working moms with family watching DC

Kind of personal but do you pay them? and if so , how much? You can FM if you want. My inlaws are watching DS full time, they will not take any $ from us. I feel bad bc daycare is like 1500 a month, but they won't take a penny!! we will give $$ for mother's day and father's day, we took them out to dinner on sunday, Any other suggestions?

before my Dh lost his job...my ILs watched Kaydyn. They would not take any money, so we were giving them a gift cert every month for a restaurant or the movies...etc.

My MIL watches the kids 2-3 days a week when I work. Our situation is a little different, being that I work for my FIL and when I am in the office, MIL takes the kids.
But, even if I had a different job, they would not accept $ from us. Granted, they don't need it, but she does it out of love and I don't feel the need to pay her really. I certainly do go out of my way to buy lunch when we are out together and such. But they know we are tight on money, so they help us out a lot.

I do pay my MIL cash every week. I also got her an AMEX under my account and she charges her gas to that. I also got her a cell phone under my plan. If I go to BJs/Costco I'll pick stuff up for her and not take $$ from her.

If you want to do something else for them, maybe you can get them a GC to the gas station? That way you know they have to use it and I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Not really and its part of her biz, so we just get them large gifts that they cant deny, like a big trip!

My sister watches DS. She is a SAHM and also takes care of my nephew. I pay her $100 a week. She didn't want any money but we convinced her to take that. We also make sure we provide everything DS could need and will buy her a double stroller to take both kids out.

My mom and SIL watches my son. My mom watches DS three days a week and SIL watches him two days a week. Together, I pay them appx half of what I would pay for a daycare in the city. Sometimes I give them more than usual.

My MIL watches DS and will be watching DD too when I go back to work. We do not pay her but I always buy her an extra gift for holidays so just pick up something that I think she might like if I see it.

my SIL watches my DS 2 days a week and wont take any $$ for it. She feels that she's so blessed in her life and wants to help others, and her and my BIL are in a position financially where she can do it (they are a lot older then us). She also had watched our two other nephews prior to my DS when they were babies too, and she LOVES kids, so i now this is not an inconvenience to her. I pay her back by always getting her gifts, for every holiday known to mankind LOL. So far she has gotten ugg boots, jewelry, gift cards, movies...she knows how grateful me and my DH are for her and always tells everyone how generous and appreciative we are.

My MIL & my mom split up watching DD; neither will take any money.

I only work part time and my mom and MIl each watch DS for 3 hours twice a week. They don't accept any money either. I just make it a point to provide everything they could possibly need, although my MIL does buy her own diapers and wipes even though they're always in DS's bag. I also thank them all the time so they know I appreciate everything they do. We are also more generous around the holidays.

Nope we don't pay them. They watch my son and my nephew for a few hours a day. Sometimes not at all. Sometimes all day. Depends on my husband and my brother in laws shifts.

Even if we offered, they'd never take it in a million years. Good thing too because we couldn't afford it.

My parents would never accept money from us. We've tried. They won't even accept gifts or anything. They enjoy watching the kids and feel that they are lucky enough to be able to do so. Or so they say, I still feel like a mooch!

My mom and MIL watch DD and they refuse money as well. We give them really nice gifts for birthdays, Christmas, etc.
