Working Moms with kids in daycare and school - dropoffs/pickups?

So my DD will be starting K in the fall and my DS (3) will be starting daycare/pre-k.

I am trying to figure out the drop off/bus pick up schedule and getting to work at a reasonable hour. I am planning on putting DD in After Care.

Just curious what your schedules look like.

DH cannot help with either of these bc he works in the city and leaves at 7am and gets home at 7pm.

I had to adjust my schedule. I drop off; DH picks up. They are in an aftercare program. In kindergarten, they were in a before care program.

I catch a 8ish train & come home 7ish. DH catches a 5ish train & comes home at about 5ish.

When they both went to daycare DH would drop them off at 8 and I would pick them up around 4.

Now DS#1 is in Kindergarten, DH drops him off at the bus stop at 9. DH or my mom picks him up at bus stop at 12:30 (yes - we are still 1/2 day Chat Icon ) We could bring him to a before school program too, but 9 works out for us.

I am planning on picking him up at the bus stop at 4 next year and then bringing him to pick #2 up at daycare.

I take #2 to and from daycare.

ETA: my sister and BIL leave very early (6:30-7) and have just decided that they are going to send their kids to private Kindergarten to solve drop off and pick up issues.

Thanks - this certainly gets more complicated as they get older.

DH will take the bus in the morning, while I drive the boys. DS#1 doesn't start school until 9am, so I drop him off and then drive into downtown with DS#2 who is in a daycare across the street from DH's office. I meet DH in front of his office and he'll take DS#2 to daycare. I park the car and usually get to my desk by 9:45am.

DS#1 gets out of school at 2:45pm, so my in-laws will pick him up. I leave the office at 5:45pm, pick up DH and DS#2 and then we pick up DS#1 from my in-laws.

I usually do work in the evenings to make up time I'm not in the office.

This is my biggest concern right now. DS goes to an all day preschool near where I work and come sept he will go to K in Bethpage. I was counting on using the before and aftercare programs at school but their aftercare is open only till 5! I am looking for other options. I have been so spoilt by having DS nearby-now I will have to worry about traffic and getting to him on time. Poor kid will also need to go before care as his bus only comes at 9-and somedays I have to be at work by then! I am not looking forward to sept at all..Chat Icon
