Working Parents of Children with Autism/Developmental Delays
If you're a working mom/dad with a child with any special need, is it difficult to manage therapy sessions etc. around a full time working schedule? How many hours per week does your child receive services? Are they in a special education program during the day?
TIA!

When I was working full time DS was in day care/pre school. He received OT services at his school. I was incontact with his OT via phone on a regular basis. It worked for us.

A lot of parents choose center-based programs for this reason, but depending on the services, you can usually work with an agency to have the services provided in the daycare or preschool setting

Re: Working Parents of Children with Autism/Developmental Delays
I should say, right now his 1 hour a week is performed daycare and I suspect that they will be upping his hours very soon so I'm hoping we can continue to do it that way...otherwise I'll need to work something else out.
I'd love to have him at a center based program at this point but I don't know of any in NJ that will take 2 year olds. They're all district provided for 3 and up but I honestly have not done any research yet on what's available because this is kind of new to me. Just being proactive. Our therapist today mentioned that some of the preschools for 3 year olds are only part-time so I was wondering how that will work for the rest of the day.
