WORST moment of my life (added one thing about Dr. Siev)
Joey fell down the basement stairs, the entire flight. I left the door open LIKE AN IDIOT when he was napping b/c we're making the basement his playroom now, so I was up & down, up & down & when he woke I just went in to him. . .DH was then in the kitchen with him making lunch, didn't realize it was open. . one minute he's next to him the next he's falling down the stairs. I've never moved so fast in my life, I heard it from our bedroom. I will never, ever, ever forget that noise. He was face down at the bottom of the stairs, hysterically crying (thankfully crying)
Immediately went to the doctor, he was fine eating his crackers, walking around, no broken bones, no blood, no concussion.
Right now my happy little boy just finished his lunch & is playing but I'm still so mad at myself. We are usually SO overly paranoid about the stairs b/c they aren't carpeted. We have the extra hook lock and everything
ugh, he's getting so spoiled today. We are going to see Santa tonight and he's getting any toy he wants, eating any cookie he wants.
His little forehead has good black and blue, and under his eye he has like popped blood vessels
WORST MOMMY MOMENT EVER!!!!!!!!
Wanted to add in case anyone cares but Joey went to Dr. Cavanagh and we have since the incident have beein going to Dr. Siev and he was G R E A T today, even called later in the evening to check on Joey which I thought was above and beyond.

OMG!!! I ALMOST had a similar experience yesterday but caught DS by his shirt as he began to fall. I can't imagine.... Thank goodness he's alright!!!! Please don't try to put so much blame on yourself. It happens.... it's tragic, but happens. No guilt - you're not the worst mom ever!!!!

awww.... I am just so happy that he is okay! That is one of my biggest fears too. Stairs really scare me!
He had an angel looking over him.
Don't be too hard on yourself, I have felt the same way with other incidents and that feeling is worst. Hopefully in a few days the feeling will subside, he won't even remember it.
A couple of weeks ago, I felt so guilty and so bad because I didn't go with my gut feeling regarding a situation. It's still hurts when I think about it, but I remind myself that I am doing the best I can and will learn from my mistakes. It's a natural process, but sometimes fo heartwrenching.

Welcome to my world...
My eldest daughter fell down the basement steps not once...but TWICE!!!(Bad mommy very bad mommy)
The sound the make as they hit the bottom is the worst sound ever.
I think I made the girls go down our basement steps on their tush until they were 6 or 7 (Im not kidding)..
Glad he is OK....

I had the same thing happen when DS was about 7 months old (or maybe 9) It was awful! So scary. I was SO thankful we have a finished basement and everythign was carpeted.

I am sorry. I can imagine how you feel. Replaying it over and over. Thankfully he is ok. We all can have a slip up and make mistakes, no matter how diligent we are. I am glad he is ok.

That is so scary, and believe me, we all have moments like that. Thankfully he is ok! I was actually just going to make a post this morning asking when kids start to walk down the stairs (bc I forget everything from Jack!)

ugh I can only imagine how terrified you felt. Soooo glad he's okay!! You are NOT a bad mommy...you were just out of your routine!!
I'll never forget when I was doing something in Riley's room, thinking she walked into our bedroom where DH was. All of a sudden DH asks "Do you have her?" I said no....and there she was at the VERY TOP OF THE STAIRS. OMG....my heart was racing for about 15 minutes after the fact thinking what if....
Please don't be hard on yourself...this stuff happens unfortunately!

I am so glad he is ok! Unfortunately these crazy things happen... I know its so hard on us... but the important thing is he is ok, thats all the matters... don't be so hard on yourself, enjoy your night, its sounds like you guys are going to have a blast!

That must have been so awful!!!!! I can't even imagine how you are feeling!! Please try not to be too hard on yourself! Things happen- all the time! To everyone! We are only human. The important thing is that he is perfectly fine and he won't even remember it soon!!

SO happy he's ok! I'm terrified of stairs, I think I would have had a heart attack. Good for you and your DH for reacting quickly and getting him checked out. Spoil spoil spoil him... it will make both of you feel better
