Ha! He made it very clear he wasn't flirting! At first I kinda just looked at him speechless. He was a cute guy probably 25 tops, and the momma in me considered helping him for a second. And then I thought of the possible things that could go wrong and my instincts told me to just be on my way and get back to my own family. I have a 4 year old who could use help with mittens but a grown ass man should be able to handle this.

When I told him No, he was flabbergasted at MY rudeness!! He was like, "REALLY?! It's not like I'm gonna rape you! I mean you're cute and all but honestly, you're not my type." ,!!!! Can u even believe ?

Now I'm old enough to be his mom. Maybe I just look like a nice lady who'd be helpful. But 1- would he have asked me if I were a man? No! And 2- what grown man even uses the word rape to a woman in a parking lot in the dark?? And 3- are we raising a generation of kids that can't problem solve on their own? SMH

His response makes him look even dumber. he said I'm not going to rape you..You're cute but not my type. Does this mean if you were his type, he would rape you?

Re: Would you...

Okay so if a young, normal guy asked me for help I would probably do it as I made of him being useless bc thats just my personality Chat Icon I have to say I am can be naive when it comes to these things and your average 25 yr old guy wouldnt intimidate me so I could see helping but prob not the best idea

Would you...

Wow these responses.
I'd offer to hold a cup while he did it himself.

#3 - i'd tell him to put the cups down on the car while he fixed his mittens himself.

And then if he responded the way you said he did, i'd probably tell him he needs to think about how he talks to women before he meets the wrong one..

2! If you've ever seen "Silence of the Lambs" that's
how buffalo bill dragged that girl into his van, he asked her for help and pretended like he was hurt with a cast on. I know it's a movie but still.... hell no!

Ted Bundy did the same thing and that wasn't a movie so it can and does happen!

Bad guys watch movies. They get ideas. It definitely happens!

When I was pregnant, I was walking to my car and some strange guy kept asking me "can I ask you a question?" and I always answer that with "you already did" but this guy was insistent on talking to me so he repeated his question and I just said "NO!" and got into my car quickly... it was the middle of the afternoon but still.. I was super pregnant and he was a creep. I'd rather hurt your feelings than end up on the evening news.

I posed this question to my kids this weekend, and some other variations, to open up additional "stranger danger" discussions.

I would help if we were in the coffee shop or whatever & there were people around, but not in a parking lot.

I was in one last week, WITH my husband, and still ignore the people behind me saying excuse me. . . until I realized they were just trying to return the scarf I dropped. Chat Icon

This guy's response was inappropriate, but he was probably even younger than you though.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I tend to want to help people. Especially if his hands were holding coffee cups, what was he going to do? I would've helped him. Probably unless I felt unsafe in the first place. But in a public area, right in front of stores, I would've helped.

Ted Bundy wore a fake cast to get "help" from women who then became his victims.

NO question!!................I'd haul a$$ to my car. That's a verrrrrry weird request and sounds suspicious to me. I'd rather be overly cautious and stay safe because you just never know these days with people.
