Would you be annoyed??
Here is the background story---
Husband will be going to Cancun for his nephew's bach party. He will be away for 5 days.
Our baby will be 4 weeks at this point. We also have a two year old son. My son is a handful- lots of energy!
We will have part- time help since our nanny will be with us 3 of the 5 days (she doesnt) work weekends.
I will be having a csection and had a very hard time recovering during my first pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Does he have to go for the full 5 days? Maybe he can just go part of the time, like 3 days.

Would I be annoyed? Maybe. As the previous poster said maybe he could cut down the trip.

5 days seems a lot. I would be ok with 3 days.

Normally I would be OK with it, but not 4 weeks after I had a baby. You have another child and will most likely be sleep deprived from the newborn, that wouldn't be fair. I would tell my husband to take his nephew for dinner & drinks to celebrate.

I myself would not be annoyed. I would just call a friend or a family memeber for backup help when the nanny leaves. I would let him go.

Re: Would you be annoyed??
I'd be completely annoyed ..4 weeks still adapting to newly rearranged life...and especially if you have driving restrictions from the csection... I'd strongly discourage my DH from going, (mine isn't even going to AC for a night for his brothers bachelor party while I'm pregnant so I wouldn't have to say much though )

Re: Would you be annoyed??
I would be a little annoyed because I would be tired/stressed but as I got older I have realized that bachelor parties and certain events only happen so often so I would let him go.

I don't know if I would be "annoyed" per say, but I would ask him if going for 3 days rather than 5 (which seems excessive to me for a bachelor party -- my last family vacation wasn't even 5 days!) is an option. Not only would it make things easier for you, it would be cheaper and he'd still get to hang with the guys for more than enough time.

Re: Would you be annoyed??
I agree with the other posters, ask him to only go 3 days and explain to him why you would prefer him to shorten his trip. I think hearing your concerns will more likely make the decision easier for him to only go 3 days. I really do think 5 days is a long time away with you being home with a newborn and 2 year old, plus it's not a business trip so he can cut it short.

Re: Would you be annoyed??
I probably wouldn't be annoyed only because its for his nephews Bach party, and I have my parents and sister very close by so I would just have my mom stay with me for a few days. I'm not sure if you have the option to have a family member or friend help you out. It's a tough situation and who knows, I say now that I wouldn't be annoyed but it's completely different when your experiencing it.

I wouldn't be annoyed. His nephew getting married is not a regular event. I would ask my mom or SIL to help out during that week.

It wouldn't annoy me. I have a 7 weeks old baby and a 2 yr old and when my baby was 3 weeks old DH uncle passed away and he had to go to ohio for 3 days, I also had a c-section. I think u will have help cause the nanny will be there 3 days. Maybe u can pay her extra to come by for a few hrs on the days she is off just to get a break.

I would not be annoyed. It's for his nephew. I would just call in my family and friends to help me out while he is gone. To me, it would not be a big deal.

Agreed- thanks for all the comments btw. I definitely dont want him missing the trip but i do think 3 days is more than enough. Plus we will be going to the wedding in Atlanta and spending a few days with them as well.

I'd be annoyed. That's a long time for a fun trip with a newborn at home. I'd be pissed if DH went but I can't picture my DH booking a pleasure trip like that knowing we would have a newborn at home, especially with another child at home as well.

Sorry... I wouldn't be ok with that at all. It's not a Bach party: that's a full vacation.

I would be annoyed. If it was for a destination wedding then that would be a different story. Bachelor party- no way!!

This is a TOTALLY different situation -- death of a family member, 3 days away in the USA vs. bachelor party, 5 days away in another country........

I see it differently because she has help. There is a nanny there 3 of the 5 days. If I was all alone for 5 days then I would not want DH going on a trip like that. I was alone for 3 days with a 2 yr old and newborn and it was not too bad, difference of opinion I guess...
