Would you be pissed? re a new puppy that is sick

Would I be upset? Yes! Would I take it out on the puppy? Absolutely, not! would I return it? Nope! I would take care of it. I would never want to put him back ina place where he can potentially become more sick. If I were you though, I would return him. It's clear you resent him and I'm so heartbroken for this puppy...

I think you have every reason to be upset. I probably would keep the puppy and find a way to make peace with the way things turned out, even if it's a much more work. I would expect the breeder to pay for any related costs though, based on the claims she made.

I think by the fact of you posting this you knew what you really wanted to do. Please give the dog back. You have not developed an attachment to this dog and that is not the dogs fault or yours but those feelings are sensed and will make it harder for training.

I want to also say if you really think you want to give the dog back, it's best to do it soon so that it is still young and can easily start elsewhere with a new family.

Would you be pissed? re a new puppy that is sick

I rescued a kitten 2 weeks ago. She was only 15 ounces and 8wks old. She was infested with fleas to the point her tongue, pallet and skin were right from anemia. After treating that she had dry skin. It's ring worm. Highly contagious. She is quarantined from our other cats and puppy as our kids. It sucks a lot and isn't cheap, but it's treatable and we love her already.

Treat the puppy and move on. Yes it's a PIA but it's your puppy and if she is offering to help with cost do it.

It's not the dogs fault it has Giardia. All a dog wants is a loving home and loving owners to take of him/her. Be mad all you want at the breeder - she shouldn't have made those claims but if you knew it wasn't possible to guarantee you shouldn't have taken its the law. If you believe the dog is not worth the trouble or you have too much other stuff going on then it's in everyone's best interest to give the dog back. I am in no way saying you are a bad person, but maybe there is another family who doesn't mind the extra work. And you can find a dog that better suits your needs. I would take it as a lesson learned on all fronts.

How long have you had the puppy?!
I recently got a puppy and thank god has been healthy
Had he been sick there is NO way I would even consider giving him back.
I love this little boy so much and would be heartbroken if he wasn't feeling well and do everything to help (as you are).
This is just a bump in the road and will be over before you know it.
Yes it's frustrating but its treatable. I get it you didn't sign up for this but again it will pass.
I don't mean this rudely but suck it up for a minute and give the puppy love and affection, that is what the puppy needs. It is NOT his faul and deserves to feel love not resentment
If you truly feel you can't love this puppy make the decision NOW
It is not fair to your little fur baby.
The breeder is an idiot for letting the puppy be exposed to another puppy. We were specifically told not to until all his shots were completed so I don't get what she was thinking! Just stupid
But again please love your little puppy it's not his fault :(

Re: Would you be pissed? re a new puppy that is sick

I have 2 puppies right now age 5 and 6 months. I will say both breeders gave us a year health warranty. As soon as we walked out the door of the breeders house with the dog I believe the dog is our responsibility. I would be upset that the breeder exposed the puppy to the virus but honestly it could happen anywhere.

Our lab has stomach issues he often gets diarrhea and I've taken him to the vet numerous times and spent a few hundred on changing food and medications and I never once thought about giving him back. It part of owning a dog. Throughout the dogs life they will get sick, cost a lot of money and be A LOT of work.

If the breeder is willing to take the puppy back don't wait so the puppy can have a better chance of finding a home.
