Would you be pizzed if you found out a family member was engaged from Facebook?
A close family member? And it has been over a day and that is the only way you knew?

I don't know if "pisssed" is the right word... More like "what is wrong with them?"
It would definitely be something I'd scratch my head over, I think it's strange that they didn't tell you.

Re: Would you be pizzed if you found out a family member was engaged from Facebook?
Probably-but I have a tendency to feel left out of things.
However, I did tell my friends before my family. We just told our parents, and then our friends, but we were going to see our extended families soon, so I waited to tell them in person.

Re: Would you be pizzed if you found out a family member was engaged from Facebook?
depends how close the family member is if it were a cousin or someone I rarely talk to -- then no but if it were a brother or sister or someone I have spoken with since then & they never mentioned it -- then yeah, but probably more confused than upset

Depending on who it is I might be. If it's someone that you are going to see over the holidays they may be choosing to wait to announce their engagement to the family in person...

I would wish I found out a different way but I would presume the family member wanted to call and tell me in person.

Re: Would you be pizzed if you found out a family member was engaged from Facebook?
I internalize a lot.
I wouldn't be ****** at them... I'd be wondering what happened to our relationship that he/she didn't think to call me when something that monumental happened.
Then I'd call to offer congratulations and try to re-establish our relationship gradually.
ETA: Now that I am thinking about it - I remember that I found out about my BROTHER being engaged by overhearing his best friend. I was going to mention it - but got sidetracked. A few days later he and his bride to be invited me and my other sister out to lunch and announced the engagement and asked us to be in the bridal party. Apparently they wanted the announcement to be a special surprise.

Re: Would you be pizzed if you found out a family member was engaged from Facebook?
I think people get very impulsive with facebook and just put in what is going on very fast. It takes time to call people and tell them your engaged, not to mention how it sinks in.
Unless it was a sibling or parent, I wouldn't be too pisssed. But then again, i'm not that close with any of my cousins.

ITA.
The only people we called the day we got engaged were MY parents -- and that's only b/c they knew it was coming. (DH asked them for my hand earlier that week.)
We didn't even call his parents until the next day b/c it was OUR night to celebrate. When we started calling people the next day, it took literally HOURS. Yes, we were excited, but honestly it was exhausting telling the same exact story and answering all of the same exact questions over and over and over and over and over again. We don't have Facebook or MySpace pages, but I could how we would have changed our status there if we did before we got in touch with everyone. As Shelly said, people get excited and impulsive with that stuff. I don't think it's meant as a slight.
Unless it was one of my brothers, I wouldn't be terribly upet -- and even then if it was only a day later, I probably wouldn't be upset at all. I'd be more excited for them than wondering why I didn't get a phone call.

Today the way people use facebook for their every move...nah probably not...I mean they cannot call every family member right away, usually we find out through the grapevine from someone else anyway.

Only if it was a sister, brother, or parent would I be upset.
I would consider that there are a lot of people to tell, and wouldn't want to bring down such a happy occasion by getting upset over it. It's about them and their happiness.
I'd just reach out and congratulate them.
