Only if it was a sister, brother, or parent would I be upset.
I would consider that there are a lot of people to tell, and wouldn't want to bring down such a happy occasion by getting upset over it. It's about them and their happiness.
I'd just reach out and congratulate them.

Maybe, it's tough to not be excited so they posted it to the world. They may have been meaning to call too. Between the engagement, work, telling immediate family maybe they haven't been able to call within that day.
I'd try to be understanding.

I think people get very impulsive with facebook and just put in what is going on very fast. It takes time to call people and tell them your engaged, not to mention how it sinks in.
Unless it was a sibling or parent, I wouldn't be too pisssed. But then again, i'm not that close with any of my cousins.

If it's only been a day or so, then no. Honestly, so long as it wasn't a sibling or parent, then I would not expect a call or email that quickly. Even for us, we got engaged in Niagara Falls and didn't get a chance to call everyone in the family to let them know - we called our parents and siblings, and they got the word out for us and then we called family or they called us.

Nah - people update their facebook page almost immediately w/ that kind of stuff -
I'd just assume she'd tell me in person when she saw me or something .....
But I'm not really sensitive about that stuff

Maybe she is waiting to tell you in person or something? I jsut found out this morning on FB that one of my good friends got engaged last night at the tree lighting ..I was a little hurt at first, but then when I saw her this morning at work she's was like I wanted to call u so bad, but it was so noisy everywhere and I wanted to really tell u in person so you could see the ring..so then I felt a better about it!
So maybe she has a good explaination!!..before you get too upset I would see what she has to say

Well, it is now Friday and we still have not been told.
And no, they are not waiting to announce it.
So...I am a little pizzed honestly. It just shows how my family has really fallen apart in the past 4 years

I think I would be a little hurt. Even if I wasn't too close to this family member for them to call and tell me themselvew, my family cannot resist calling EVERYONE the very second news is announced. I figure at least that persons Mom would call my Mom and then I would know.
I think I would want the phone call even if down a chain vs. reading it on Facebook

No, I wouldn't. I am assuming it was a cousin or someone like that and not a sibling. the younger crowd is so into the Facebook it was probably updated from their phone or something. Also, it was only a day later and perhaps he/she didn't get a chance to get a call everyone.
