Would you book airfare?

Before all of this, i've been looking at flights to go down to FL to visit family at the end of the school year. It would be for me and my 3 kids. My husband has to work and i have this week off of work so i figured why not. So i've been monitoring flights.

On Frontier it would be $480 for the 4 of us to go.

Obviously with what's going on right now, there is a lot of uncertainty. My husband thinks now is the time to book them and that the airlines won't go out of business.

And my god yes i'm hoping we can go back to normal by the end of June. Chat Icon

Would you book them?

No. I know it looks like a great fare, but the airlines are going under. They will take your money and you need it for other purposes.

Especially an airline like Frontier. They would be the first to go under

Would you book airfare?

No. We have Disney booked for the end of August. Our booking window opened last week. I wanted to book, but since I have no idea WTH will be going on then, I am not risking losing hundreds of dollars. I am already SOL for my Miami trip that I have booked in May. I've been looking forward to it since the fall.

Isn't the airline refunding or giving credit? I know SW will credit us for use at a future date I think. I have to call or go read their policy online
I was traveling to Florida one year with a hurricane looming and had called thinking I'd have to cancel (turned out the storm tracked north and we went anyway) but they said we could get credit if we had to cancel

I know with Lufthansa (my family was supposed to be here this week) they are only offering a rebooking. No money is being given back. That’s a major airline. OP save your money.

Found Southwest...

- Unused, fully refundable tickets, that do not carry restrictions, may be applied toward future travel or refunded within one year from the date of issue.

I do hate flying SW but their refund policies have always been great

It's SouthWest so I will get a credit that I need to use by next Spring since they updated their policy (should be by next December). The thing is I do not do a ton of traveling so it's probably just a loss unless I book a trip to visit my friends in Chicago for a weekend. Luckily, it is only $215.
