Would you bring your DC to an engagement party at a restaurant?

It's for my cousin who is like a sister to me. She is TJ's godmother. My aunt said I am more than welcome to bring them but to be honest, I really want to enjoy myself. Is that selfish? Do you think being my kids are so important to them, I should bring them?

Can you bring them and have someone pick them up after about an hour?

No I wouldn;t bring them. I'm selfish- I'd rather enjoy a good oarty rather than have to chase after toddlers.

If they were invited I would.

I love bringing them to family parties-someone always wants to hold them or play with them. I can watch from my chair with a glass of wine.

if you would rather take the time for yourself and enjoy it with other adults, then get a sitter, relax, and enjoy yourself.

I brought DS to one on Saturday. It was a daytime event, if that makes a difference. He was an angel, and my whole family was there to entertain him had he not been an angel. Chat Icon We still enjoy ourselves.

In your case I would go without the kids. It's nice to have a break from them & eat a warm meal!! If you have someone that can watch them take advantage...

Depends. When DS was not mobile I would bring him if invited. We used to take him everywhere in the infant carrier.
At 11 months unless there are other kids there I try to avoid it. It's hard on him to keep still and quiet for a while, even going out to Chili's sometimes requires a break for him near the end of the meal.
On the flip side, if you see the other post we really don't have any "help" so we may either bring him or stay home.

I normally do too but this is in a really nice restaurant. Derek just started walking and I just think it will be boring for them. I feel bad making them sit at a table for 3 hours, KWIM?

I would go without them if I could. It sounds like you want to enjoy yourself and if you can get childcare, I say go and enjoy yourself!

Like previous posters said I'm sure they will be entertained by your family and if you don't bring them everyone will be asking about them. I personally would bring them just because she is one of their godmothers.

I would. However, I know I'm lucky, DD is very well behaved in restaurants.

No, I dont think its selfish at all! If you want to go and have a good time, I'd totally get a sitter. If it's too hard to get a sitter, I wouldnt hesitate to bring them either though.

How important is it to the host that they are there? If it doesn't matter either way, get a sitter and enjoy! You need a break too!Chat Icon Chat Icon
