w/out a doubt!!!!!!!!! When I worked in publishing our summer hours would include either work 9-12pm every Fri OR have every other Fri off. Since I worked in NYC but lived on LI, I opted for the latter. It was awesome!!!!!!

yes, wish my university that i work at offered this. At a prior job, we did this- we worked 9 hours monday to thursday and friday we got to leave at 12 for a half day. it was nice!

in a heartbeat!!!!!!! each year I hope that my company would do something for summer fridays.... leave at 1 or 3, I have no problem eating at my desk and working through lunch!

I actually wouldn't...I have a really good full-time schedule now & if I did that it would mean that I'd actually see my son less.

I would do it, but then I also would consider that I get out very early on Fridays sometimes - 1 or 2 and I don't have to make up the time during the week, but to have a whole day on friday - absoutely.

I already do this and its fantastic!

I don't put 10 hours in at the office, but with working on the train both ways I really get in 11/12 hours all the time

It all depends if I could start earlier. I wouldn't forgo dinner with my family 4 nights a week for one day off.

If I didn't have a family, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yes absolutely. My company closes at 2pm on Fridays as is, but the whole day off would be great.

Right now, I do a compromise. One extra hour a day, and every other Friday off. An extra hour each day would really cut into my quality time with DC. As it is right now, I have a maximum of 3 hours with DC each evening, and that's with starting my day at 7am. Having 2 hours a day with DC, and never being able to go to DC's soccer practices would be hard. Plus, I would get home at 6:30, and DC have several activities in the evening, like Cub Scouts, so I would have almost no time at home.


It's not as cut-and-dry as it may seem on the surface.

Where I am right now, no. DD wakes up at 6:30am and goes to bed at 7pm. I wouldn't see her all week, until those 3 days off.

Before I had DD or when I was single, my answer would be yes.

I dont have kids so I would say YES! If had kids I would need to take in consideration their schedule to decide.

There was a proposal put in a few weeks ago in my dept to do flex Fridays throughout the summer. Basically, get out at noon - have to make up 4 hours during the week.

I was so excited because upper management asking for a proposal was a big step in a yes direction, considering in previous years they just said no.

They still said no - saying it wouldn't work for our department blah blah blah.

Than they wonder why the employees are so unhappy and unmotivated.

I would 100% do that! My company allows us to take every other Friday off in the summer in exchange for working an extra hour Monday-Friday. I would LOVE to have EVERY Friday off though!!!

It sounds great, and before DS I would totally do this. But I pick him up and drop him off at daycare each day, and I cannot leave him there late enough to do 10 hours. So no, I would not for that reason.
