Thanks everyone! I don't know if she booked to have one done, I hope not. I didn't want to ask either because I don't want to give her the idea of booking one or let her know thats what I got her.

I really like that idea.. but as for me.. I already booked my shoot at about 16 weeks.. and I was picky about my photographer. I also know a few people who aren't into the whole stranger handling your baby to take pics thing.. I'm sure you know your friend so you know what she would like and if she already booked one or not.. so all in all I think it was an extremely sweet and thoughful gift.

I'm not the type to book a newborn or maternity shoot for myself, but if someone gave me one as a gift, i think i'd definitely use it

I would like that but only if I knew for sure she didn't already schedule one. With many photographers you have to book early. I think I booked my newborn shoot around 15 weeks or so. So as long as you know she doesn't have one already booked and you can schedule it now without any problems I say go for it!

I guess I am the odd one out, but I say no. I just don't understand the point of them. Not a big fan of displaying my naked baby, and not a big fan of pictures of people sleeping.
If someone gave me one, I'd use it, but I'd much rather have something more practical that I needed. I can take plenty of pics of my baby myself.
Just my 2 cents

i would Love it!! and I would prefer it to a maternity shoot for sure!
I'd just make sure she doesn't already have one booked.
And if she does... a 6 month, 8 months or 1 year shoot is also a good idea!!

Yes, that is an amazing gift.
I know people may think it is impersonal but gift cards are really the best gift for a new mother. That way, she can buy what she needs for the new baby. I appreciated all the gifts we received but the gift cards were the most useful.

I bought a newborn photo shoot for a friend as her shower gift. I wanted to get her something big off her registry, but all the big items were already bought when I went to look.
If it was me, I would love a gift like this. But, I'm curios what everyone else thinks.
So, is this something you would like to receive? If no, can you tell me why?

Maybe you can ask her DH or her mom/sister? I'm sure if she booked one, someone knows about it.
I think its a great gift, something she can have forever!!
