Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

No I would not.

I will give Abby's clothes away when we are done having kids or if our next is to be a boy.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

No. Even the most responsible parent can't stop kids from staining clothing and then it makes for a sticky situation with friends/family.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

Loan no, give outright, yes. I am pg w/ #2 (a girl) and I have given some of DSs really boyish clothing away. I have no expectation that it will be returned.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

I was in a similar situation with a very close friend who had more than the means to get her own stuff (she pulls in $500,000 a year) and asked me numerous times to "lend" her DS's clothes and swing, bouncy, etc. and while I lent her my swing, I did not loan out the clothes.

She was buying herself a new pair of Manolos when her water broke.

I still get annoyed by it today.

If it was a friend who would have really benefited from the help of hand-me-downs I would have no problem lending clothes.

No because I'm saving them for any other children we plan on having. If I was done having babies then I wouldn't mind giving them away but until that times comes I've packed everything away nicely for my next baby. Chat Icon

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

Yes, I have and it's only 1 person. My cousin and I are very close (like sisters) and we both take immaculate care of our things.

She has a son who is 1.5 years older than DS and now has a daughter 6 months younger than DS. She's given me so many outfits (that I've taken excellent care of) and I've given her all of the gender neutral things that I could. We have an understanding that if something gets stained, ruined - it gets tossed. No harm, no foul. Between the 2 of us, we have purchased/shared enough to clothe 6 kids.

I wouldn't do this with just anyone.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

No, I would not lend out DD's clothes. I may go through them and see what I can give away, but I would never give anything away that I would want back.

loan, no. but I have given away many items to a friend. stuff I didn't really love and had no personal attachment to.

I would never loan out her coming home out, for example.

Do you hope to get it back someday? If that were the case I would not loan it out. Wait until you are done with kids!

No. I woud let someone borrow a "dressier outfit" that would be worn once and then returned right after.

No. DS spit up on everything so a lot of it is stained. I have given things away that I don't want back. If you lend it out it could get stained.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

I did. I have a friend with a DD a year younger than my DD. I gave her most things...nothing that was special or I really really loved. She then put them away. I'm storing some and she is too and once we each have our next DC's we'll figure out where is goes. We'd better both have girls again because man there are a TON of clothes.

Yes. I plan to have 1 or 2 more children, but there is a chance I won't have another DD so I'd hate for all of these clothes to go to waste. I have labeled them with our initials and my friend promised to return them.

A few really special items or very expensive items I do not though.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

I have given lots of DD's baby clothes without the expectation that I'll get it back. My friend's DD is exactly 1yr younger then my own so I gave her as much of DD's clothes as I was willing to part with (obviously kept things with sentimental attachment) even though I knew I wanted more only because #1 there is no guarantee that I will have another girl and #2 I purposely did not want another summer baby (this one will be a winter one, yay!) so even if I were to have the same gender a lot of the clothing wouldn't be weather appropriate.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

prob not.

I did a few things that I didn't care enough about to put away, but still wanted back. Real little stuff that the baby would wear for like a week or two.

Re: Would you loan out your saved baby clothes

I did...
my sister had a baby 2 years after Josh.

I could not see her spending money on staple items when I have so much here.

so I marked a "J" on all the tags and sent it out.

she already started sending things back, and she has a girl, so if my #2 is a girl, I have a ton of pink coming my way.

It just made more sense to put it on a baby then have it in storage around here.

and I love seeing pics of her wearing some of josh's stuff...it brings me back.
