Re: Would you send a 2 year old on a field trip?
Nope not a chance. I wouldn't be comfortable with that even for my four year old much less my two year old.

Would you send a 2 year old on a field trip?
Absolutely not. Unless the parents are all driving their kids and staying. How can a 2 year old safely go on a bus?!. Way too young!

Re: Would you send a 2 year old on a field trip?
Ugh. Depends. The key question is what happens if your kid doesn't go? Do they sit in a room somewhere or are you home or take a day off? Starting at 3, I sent my kids on field trips and they had a great time. They went on a bus and the school is super organized... they have their kids in LINE before they go. Trips were to aquariums, nature centers, etc. Personally, watching "walking" trips in the suburbs... those are more dangerous vs getting kids in and off big buses. Kids just aren't trained with staying on sidewalks.

I would take the day off if I had to and I never take off for anything.
The more I think about this the more I wonder how the camp can even suggest this. How do they restrain the kids on the bus? How do they watch that many kids in a public place? And are they really that out of touch that they think parents would be ok with this?

I would or I would find another camp where I didn't have to take days off because of their trips.
I feel like the camp would suggest it because they've looked into it, and they've done it before, I don't think they do it on a whim.
Admittedly I am more lax, but my job would not be pleased if I took off for something like this, and I'm divorced, so when my son is with my ex, I have 0 control and a field trip with camp sounds like a dream

Re: Would you send a 2 year old on a field trip?
My DD's daycare took them on trips when they were 2-3 years old. I was a nervous wreck about it, but felt better when I found out a bunch of parents would be attending as well. Also, I didn't want her to feel left out.
Thinking about it, my DD has been talking walks around the neighborhood to the local parks with her daycare pretty much daily from the time she was about two and that's a little worrying as well. I guess we live in the wild side here in Queens!

I had to provide a car seat for when my DD went on trips with her daycare.

For those who have asked, yes you provide a car seat. They strap them in. The bus isn't what scares me, it's more the fact that at that age it only takes 1 second for them to disappear and he doesnt have the communication skills or knowledge to get help. You can of course leave them back at this camp, the trips aren't mandatory but I just keep him home. We're lucky enough to have help so it's not really an issue. I just wanted reassurance that I wasn't being overly paranoid.

Re: Would you send a 2 year old on a field trip?
Are you able to go? If you are then I would say yes. My son does some field trips at his nursery school and I take half days at work to attend.
