would you send your dc to daycare if they had an immunization-induced fever?
DD is acting totally fine and playing like normal (apetite is gone though!) She's running a 101-102 fever. She had her shots on tuesday, Hep A and flu. Wwyd??

If DD has a fever they would send her home no matter what the reason was.... So to answer you question, no I wouldn't bother sending her in b/c they would just make me pick her up and then they wouldn't let her back for 24 hours.

For her own sake, no. I can't imagine she would feel so great with a fever and I'd rather she be home resting.

definitely not. a fever's a fever. like the PP said, once u send her to daycare, they're just going to call you to come pick her up.

DEFINITLY not. and fwiw, hep A has no side effects, should not cause fever, and if she got the flu shot, she shouldn't get a fever from that either. if she got hte mist, maybe.

No. I feel if their body is busy fighting off the immunization, their immune system is temporarily compromised. Daycare is the perfect place to pick up a secondary infection.

Fever is always a no for me
They'd send her home anyway if it was over 101 and this is going to come out wrong but I'll try to make it simple... if I sent her to school with a non infectious fever (aka teething or reaction) and they send her home with a fever at say 10am I'm forced to keep her home 24hrs so I'd lose two days of work/paid daycare. So its easier financially and daywise to go ahead and keep her home for one day and let the fever pass.

Re: would you send your dc to daycare if they had an immunization-induced fever?
absolutely not - The only time I'll send him w/ a fever is if it's one of those 'teething' things and it's like 100 -
My daycare would send a kid home w/ 101 or 102 fever - w/ that kind of fever, and food, there could be puking ........

How can you say that a certain vaccine has NO side effects or does not cause fevers??
That’s absolutely not true. Every child is different and their bodies react differently to every vaccine. Some may be more prone to produce fever as a side-effect, but to say that a certain vaccine should NOT cause such-and-such side effect is ridiculous. A foreign substance is introduced to the body and it is SUPPOSED to elicit an immune response to produce antibodies. Likely proof of immune response: fever!
But to answer the question - I wouldn’t bother. My daycare is fever happy and if DD sits too long in the sun she "has a fever". They'd just make me pick her up

I feel the same way. I keep them home if they have a fever because they would be more comfortable. But even if I did send them, they would probably get sent home and I would have to keep them home the next too when there might have been a chance they could be feeling better by then.
So, it's for their comfort but also ust makes sense fiscally.

Re: would you send your dc to daycare if they had an immunization-induced fever?
I would say no. If she had the shots on Tuesday and has the fever today, I wouldn't be 100% certain it was immunization-induced. I'm just playing armchair doctor here, but I THOUGHT with most shots (exception being MMR) the fever usually came the day after??
Either way, I would keep her home where she'd be most comfortable.

Nope, they will most likely send her home as soon as they realize she is hot and then you will have to keep her home the next day regardless.
If her appetite is gone too, it definitely could be more than just the shots.

DS also had a 102 fever from his flu shot...It is very normal to get a fever after vaccines...Never say never. It says it on his immunization paper that I got after his shot...
