Would you throw a b-day party for your DC BEFORE the actual birthdate?
I know some people are superstitious about it, and my DD's 2nd b-day id about a year away, but of course, I looked at the calendar. She's a 12/25 baby and she just had a cousin born on 12/31, so I know they will hold a big 1st b-day party on 12/31 or 1/1. I don't know if I should do something in January of mid-december.
Just rambling thoughts (I love throwing parties...)

Yes... I never heard of it as being a supersticious thing. I think you just have to make it "around" the time and when it's convenient.

My DD turned 1 on December 23rd and we had her first birthday party on 12/5 this past December. I have never heard of any superstitions related to it, and it was a lot easier for everyone since her birthday is so close to Christmas.

We will be doing this for DD#2. Her 1st Bday is 12/18 but it's not our weekend to have DH's children, so I will have her party the weekend prior on 12/11 or 12/12.

I would probably do it after instead of before.

This year DD's party for her friends is 2 days before her birthday and her family one is the day before.

I am thinking of throwing Tyler's first birthday about two weekends earlier - so that's in in early October, versus mid-october

Re: Would you throw a b-day party for your DC BEFORE the actual birthdate?
We had DS 1st b-day party a little over 2 weeks before his actual birthday. I wanted a backyard party and felt having it earlier than his b-day we'd have a better chance of having good weather.
