Would you trust your DH to do the holiday shopping by himseld?

I know it's cold out. But we were supposed to go grocery shopping tonight. Personally, I wanted to go a bit later b/c of the crowds. He agreed. So at 5:30, he says later. AT 6:15, he says later. So I take a cat nap. He wakes me up and tells me it's too cold to go. Fine, I'll go alone. He won't have it. Then he says we'll go to Waldbaums. I say yeah, and spend an extra fortune there. He tells me he'll go tomorrow, just leave a list.

I don't know...I'm the one cooking, not him. I want to pick out what I'm using and he doesn't get that.

Now my plans are messed up b/c he's too cold to go.

I'd trust him if I gave him a specific list AND had my cell on hand the entire time! hahaha. DH actually goes grocery shopping pretty often. He's home more than 2 hours before me everyday - he has to do SOMETHING!

can you just go without him? it would probably be quicker and easier.

Why can't you go alone then? I usually try and go food shopping by myself and leave the kids home with dh. It's MUCH easier.

Why can't you go alone? I'd go shopping by myself. DH does a good job, but I like to pick things out when I'm cooking...

the answer is yes. DH has shopped many times for me and has done a great job.

Absolutely since he's the one that cooks. He's making a list for me for Christmas Eve so he can bring it over to my SILs

I have made a specific list and at times handed the empty container or label of what ever I need for him to take with him to the store so he can locate it easier. DH is generally very good about these things. He will call me if he has a question when he is there.

My DH means well, but he always makes substitutions that don't really work for me. He also buys a lot of generic stuff and for certain items, I NEED my specific brand (Tropicana, Breyers etc...) so I guess I would trust him and appreciate him going, but know that I would have to go back...

Yes - he doesn't trust me.

I HATE xmas shopping. He is amazing at it. I'm pretty lucky

ETA - oh you meant grocery shopping. He does that too!

No way. If we need more than milk, bread, eggs and bananas, I prefer that DH not go. Every time I've sent DH to the store with a list, he never gets exactly what I want even if I put it on the list.

my husband is great like that.. i think i could trust him, with a list of course.

he would be calling a lot though to double check to make sure he had the right thing.

For a regular week? SURE.

For something like a holiday where I would be running out again to pick up what he didnt get, no way not worth the hassle.

Excellent example: chicken breast is on sale at waldbaums so I send him there to get it - he goes to an overpirced deli by my house INSTEAD and gets premade chicken with the mozzarella and ham inside. Yes, it was wonderful but not instead of having chicken for my next 6 meals - he got me ONE meal AND I missed out on the sale AND he spent so much on it we should have just gone OUT to eat, LOL

I would trust mine with a list (I always make specific lists) but I like to shop, so I usually do it myself.

I have sent him out for a joint of beef, he is going to call me to double check its the right one.

I haven't gone food shopping in the 10.5 years we have been married.

DH does all the food shopping...always.

I make the list, he shops.

Love it.

I definitely don't like to do it, and DW would need to be very desperate to even ask me, but as long as she had a specific list, she would trust me. Plus, I always have my cell phone, so if I was confused about something, I would call her.

id just go myself, especially if im the one cooking. If i sent DH and he came back with the wrong thing or missing something, that would really annoy me.

I trust my DH as long as I give him a specific list!

ETA: and I mean specific...like Brand name, aisle, size, etc.
