We went to use a mortgage broker that our realtor recommended and was affiliated with...horror story. Well, not really, but it could have been. Turns out our landlords at the time had one they used and they gave us the name and number. He was amazing! Lesson learned.

Re: would you work with an attorney that your real estate agent recommended?
My wife and I were worried about the same and tried several attorneys and brokers on our own.
It was time consuming and only left us in dissappointment.
So we finally brokedown and went with the attorney and broker and inspector recommended to us and couldn't have been happier.
Not only did we feel they did a great job, but since they all work together they were able to coordinate with each and get everything done fast.
Also since they all knew each other we were able to do some things out of the norm..
All fees were reasonable as well.
