WWYD - bottles & feeding - slow flow too fast?!?!

With DS (who is 5) I used Playtex drop in bottles with latex nipples. We never had any issues with the nipples or bottles. In fact I don't think he ever went to a fast flow nipple.

Fast forward to now. We decided to use the same brand/type bottles for DD b/c we liked them and had no issues in the past.

Well now I am having issues and unsure what to do.

After ~2 weeks of using the latex nipples, I noticed a few had holes & she seemed to be "spitting out" more than she took in. I decided to stop using latex and switch to silicon. All slow flow. DD had been doing great, until today. I'm noticing that she is still spitting out and it sounds like she is gulping. In turn she is also spitting up more.

I just tried giving her a 4.5oz bottle and she "took" 2.5 ozs faster than normal. Gulping. Spitting out. Also crying while eating. I'd stop & burp her but when I put her on my shoulder she is content (& no burp).

What should I do??? Is it the bottles? If I change I don't know what to try. Also how do I know this wont happen with another kind/brand?? I am not sure I'm down for investing $$$$ on bottles.

I'm sick of wasting formula. I'm frustrated with how she is eating and feel bad for her.

TIA

I had the same problem gulping/crying/spitting up etc... I started using first essential bottles which from what I can tell are super super slow. Actually, the first time we used them it seemed like dd got a little frustrated that it wasn't coming out enough, but now they are great and inexpensive. Just thought I'd throw it out there...

Thank you for the response! I actually used a pack of them with DS when he started holding a bottle- he refused to hold the drop in bottle.
