WWYD - SIL wants to visit NB
i have a 2.5week baby in the house. SIL wants to visit with her kids. she said they have some cough but probably from their allergies or asthma.
i know the kids really want to see the baby and i'd feel really bad if i say no (they're coming from out of state to see us).
WWYD?

I am usually open to people visiting, even kids, but if her kids have a cough I would tell her to come by herself or when her kids are better. It could be allergies but I wouldnt take the chance.

Re: WWYD - SIL wants to visit NB
are they sleeping over?
I would make sure that they're not sick and make it clear to SIL that you have a newborn.
We had lots of visitors when DS was born. I have lots of nieces and nephews. They understood not to be all over the baby. Usually children are bored with newborns anyway. They look, say awe... then go and play.

Re: WWYD - SIL wants to visit NB
I was a little insane with my DS as a newborn, but I don't care. My comfort level is what it is.
No way would kids with a cough be allowed to visit.
SIL, maybe, but with the kids, no.
I've known more than one person whose newborn had to have a spinal due to fever and stay in the hospital having vials and vials of blood drawn and tests taken for nothing.
To me, it's not worth it.
