WWYD - Video Monitor related, moms of two
We have had the Summer Infant since Jack was born. It's gone through two batteries and hardly focuses when on Jack's channel (it's perfect on Tylers)
I have a few options and don't know what is best:
Buy the Best View model which pans around the room and zooms in and out. This is $199 and only comes with one camera. Another camera would be another 120 bucks. Totaling 320 (figure 260 after BBB coupon) This gets rave reviews
Buy the Slim and Secure model. This comes with two cameras and is 269 (figure 220 after BBB coupon) - problem is, this doesn't get the greatest reviews.
OR
Buy only one of the Best View models for 199 (160 after coupon) and keep the monitor we have in Tyler's room which is annoying to have two handhelds, but I can really deal with it for a little bit and then buy another one.
We just have had loads of expenses lately and I just can't see speding so much money right now.
It's so silly - but I can't make up my mind. Actually now that I look at the breadown I am only saving 80 bucks with getting only one camera which isn't alot. UGH! HELP!

You didn't keep the box I presume? I had the same issue with my video monitor and had the box in Ryan's closet. Brought it back and got a new one - no questions asked. Maybe call the company?

I wouldn't even know what to say - don't you think three years is a long time for it to last?

Probably not the answer you want, but I wouldn't even bother getting another monitor and just keep it for Tyler.
I went through 2 Summer monitors and finally after the second one was done I just threw it out and that was when DD was around 2.

I keep it on Jack more then I do on Tyler these days, since he's in a big bed - and is all over the room lately (which is why the one that pans the room would be good for him)
Also, check the home board, I posted a pic for you. Thx for all your help!

I saw, love it and I really like that little table.
I would just move Tylers monitor to Jacks room and get a cheap one for Tyler. I just think it is a lot to spend since they are toddlers now.

This is what we did. It's a PITA to carry the two handhelds but they are in the living room all day and the bedroom at night so it's not that bad.
ETA: We have the same setup as you would too, the camera that pans in Luca's room, since he moves more and will be in a bed sooner than Izzie will.

I am also trying to rationalize that I will have it if/when we have a third.
I think I will buy the Best View with one camera for now. Then go back for the other camera in a month or so (since they are sold seperately anyway)
You know me A - I am wayyy too crazy to not have an eye on these boys all the time. I'll be writing posts about video monitors when they are 14 and 12 years old

Do you have the Best View? How do you like it? This is what I think I'm going to do for now.

Re: WWYD - Video Monitor related, moms of two
I'm having a similair issue. We had the summer handheld from Noah. The handheld part barely works at all anymore...We sold our 2nd camera as Noah was old enough ....Now we are moving and his rom is not 2 feet away anymore. It is still close, but he has to cross through the kitchen to get to our room and that makes me nervous at 2 am when he does that and decides he wants a drink etc...
ANYWAY ( god I make a long story LONGER)....I am looking into getting the scanning camera like you, two of them and will just justify it as I have spent that much money on dinners out in the last 6-8 months and this will last me at least 3+ years.

I LOVE the pan and zoom feature and could not live without it, so imo, get the best view and deal with two monitors.

Re: WWYD - Video Monitor related, moms of two
I actually have 2 of the Best View monitors. I like that I can pan and zoom and see if they are actually sleeping or with Logan if he creeps out of bed to see what he is doing if I need to go in there or not. I only carry around 1 during the day for Landon when he is napping and then I'll have both of them next to me when they are down for the night. I find I can't have both of them next to each other, they interfere with one another. I keep Logan's on DH nighstand an Landon's on my nightstand. I have 2 different models, they are about 2 years apart maybe that's why they interfere? not sure.

Re: WWYD - Video Monitor related, moms of two
My DS are 2yr 4 mo and almost 8 months. I have had 4 Summer cameras. We had the basic one for DS for about 2 years, then that died. Then we got the one that had the temperature on it, but the temp fluctuated way too much. We returned that and bought the one that allows you to see up to 4 cameras on one screen and you can switch back and forth. I didn't like that one because once the screen goes black, if you had it on scanning mode, you don't know which room is which and it stops scanning. Right now we have 2 seperate camera, the ones that allow you to pan and zoom. I am pretty happy with this set up. I like that I can pan the room to find my toddler who climbs out of bed and the zoom to zoom in on my little guy's face. If you buy at BBB, you can always try it out and return them. (yes, I know you aren't supposed to but hey, these are expensive purchases and you should be happy with them!) Keep your boxes and receipts. Good luck with your decision!

Re: WWYD - Video Monitor related, moms of two
My DCs are 2.5 years and 4 months. I have the summer monitor that came with the big screen and a hand held. I had an extra camera because my last summer monitor died.
I like the handheld because I can have it anywhere and go back and forth between the two kids rooms.
I like the big LCD screen because I am a freak and need to see AJ breathing.
So at night I have the LCD one on my nightstand and the hand held on my dresser set on Chelsea's room.
My DH thinks I am nuts.
