If you feel you need a stroller - check the ones Disney rents I think they have a higher weight limit. I don't plan on having my 5 year old son use one this summer at Disney though but there have been posters here who wanted their 7 year old children in them....

Re: WWYD 5 yr old and Disney

When we went to Disney DS was 4.5 and weighed about that much. Having a stroller DEFINITELY helped! But, we were everywhere and on the go ALL.DAY.AND.NIGHT Chat Icon

We rented a double citi mini that was delivered to the hotel. I had a 2 yr old as well...

have to say didn't want to take a stroller when we went, was against it..my friend gave me her macleran..best thing ever! dd fell asleep in it daily on the way back to the shuttle and wanted to get sit in it at the park..normally she would want nothing to do with a stroller...the days are so long..i know my dh would of had to carry her most of the time and that would have not been enjoyable for anyone lol

Re: WWYD 5 yr old and Disney

thanks for the input...i will just bring the one i have then...if it breaks i wont be heartbroken lol

i know she will need one, she has the same leg pains i had growing up and walking too much will make it 100x worse at the end of the day. giving her the chance to sit when she wants/needs to will make a world of difference.

Everyone I know brings one even if they haven't used them in years. You are going for several days, all day or long days even with breaks it is normal to walk 10+ miles a day. Day 1 or 2 might go well but by the middle of the week most kids are tired.

I had one friend who didn't bring theirs and they ended up with a cranky kid and sorry. If you think you child can do 10-15 miles a day and not get tired I would leave it at home. Most adults get tired so I think it helps for 5 year old to have one. The ones who brought theirs used it later in the day and at very crowded times like after parades or fireworks. It is wall to wall and small kids can easily get separated. Otherwise I would bring the one you have. Find a spot and leave it until you need it. You can bring the number of the places that rent. I have read of people who had their strollers broken and called the rental place and had one that day. The other alternative is to bring yours and if it is not comfortable you can rent one in the park but they afe not comfortable and very expensive.

If you have any doubts I know lot of people who rented from a company. Your DC will fit the weight
limit and you can take it back to your hotel. I am tempted to say save the money, your chikd won't need it a lot, and if you have the rental numbers, if you have any issues you can call until you fond one or just rent directly from disney as a last resort.

Btw I plan to bring mine for my kindergartener. Her friends all used one. She gets tired after a long day at the bronx zoo. It will be in the upper 80s- 90s and tge heat, lines etc are enough to tire an adult. I would rather lug a stroller than have a whiney, cranky 5 yr old who is not having fun. If they aren't happy you won't be! My DD gets leg pains too. It is a lot of walking and standing even if you take breaks. You will all have a better time if you have it. I am trying to decide if I want to bring my city mini since my 3 almost 4 year old will definitely need it or 2 maclarens. Then we can leave DD#1s some where or only bring it at night. Can't decide. There is a lot to be said for having a stroller when the mad rush happens. Last trip I saw little ones trying to hold onto their parents, getting stamped on, crying. One time I was glad to lug it around. Also gives you place to leave change of clothes and snacks.
