WWYD? Crib bumpers
DD is six months old. When she started rolling in her crib, I changed her regular bumpers to breathable ones because I was nervous about her pushing her face into them during the night. She was doing great with them, until recently. She is now ALL over the crib, and is regularly banging into the wood - hitting her head, legs, etc. because the breathable bumpers don't have cushioning. She hasn't hurt herself YET, but she's banging her head, legs, etc. so hard I can hear it from outside her room! So, now what do I do? Put the regular bumpers back in, or leave the breathable ones? I'm either going to worry about her not being able to breathe or hitting herself.

DS is 8.5 mos old. We've always had bumpers. DS moves around a lot lately. I personally am comfortable with it.

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
Have you found her curled up right next to the bumper?
We still have the full bumpers in at 16 months. It hasn't been an issue.

DS is always smacking his head against his crib bars and the mirror in his crib! i never thought about it - i have no bumpers on and i'm not going to put them back.
the worst i've ever seen on him is a bruise - i just kind of think of it as a normal part of growing up!

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
I have this same problem here - DD is 4 months and is all over the crib. She is banging her head, and moving all over in her sleep. I now have breathable bumpers on b.c she was getting her arms and legs stuck outside the crib and pressing her face against the bumpers.
I wouldn't put up the cushy ones b.c she might press her face against them again. Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do about them moving as I am learning. DD is waking herself up all night long.

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
Funny you should ask this...we've ALWAYS had bumpers in the crib, yesterday I took them out the wash them, long story short the washer was having issues so they weren't ready for her when she went to bed last night, I woke up at least 4 times to her banging everything into the wood of the crib, she moves around like crazy and I'm more comfortable with the bumpers...

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
We changed from the regular bumpers to the breatheable ones when DS was 4 months old and starting to roll over... he is now 2 and we have not changed back.
Every once in a while we hear him bump into the rails and it has never been an issue. He has never woken up from it or hurt himself from it.
We still find him with his face smooshed up in the corners of the crib up against the breatheable bumpers so I just won't put the regular ones back in.

We have the breathable bumpers and they do have some cushioning. Personally, I'd rather they bang up against the bars a few times than suffocate in the regular bumpers.

Same here - I always here him banging something in there - he's always fine! Sounds worse than it is IMO.

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
I never had the bumpers in but added them a couple of weeks ago because they were dropping their binkies out of the crib and not sleeping well.

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
I'm having the same issue. I was actually thinking of doubling up on the breathable bumpers, do you think they would still be breathable if I do that?? lol.

Ditto. Bumps can heal...
There isn't that much cushioning on the soft bumpers anyway. If DC hit their head hard enough against the crib to cause any real damage, those thin bumpers wouldn't do much. They may cushion tiny bumps, but that's about it, and tiny bumps don't cause any damage.

I definitely see your point!
Thing I'm worried about is that the back of the crib is solid wood, so I don't even have the breathable bumpers on that side (they won't go on). She's been rolling into that part ALL the time and banging her head/legs each time. She hasn't cried in pain yet, so I guess that's a good sign.

Re: WWYD? Crib bumpers
With DS I left the bumpers on the whole time he was in the crib. I never had a problem.
Once DD was born and was moved into her crib she has been all over the place but the bumpers are still on. So far I have not had a problem with her and the bumpers.
