WWYD-field trip related

DD daycare is going on a field trip later this week. The kids in her class are 3-4 years old. They are using buses (with seatbelts) as transportation, not car seats. I'm a little concerned that they are not transporting the kids in car seats. DD has been talking about this trip all week and would be crushed if she couldn't go.

WWYD- would you let her go or make her stay behind??

TIA

Call up the school and ask for the number to the bus transportaiton department. They have all of the statistics about how safe the school buses are. The seats are specially designed to withstand impact, etc.

I had similar concerns when my DD started going on the bus and once i was able to speak with the transportation department about the safety on the bus i felt sooo much better.

I've read that school bus seats, even without seat belts, are safer than most cars with just seatbelts/booster seats.

I was shocked but I guess they are specially designed.

Let her go!
My DS just turned 4 and takes the bus every morning to school.

What kind of bus? Big yellow? Little yellow? Charter? Motorcoach? 15 passenger van?

Big buses are safer because of compartmentalization, plus size, plus color.

If there are seatbelts on it, you can ask to install your child's seat on it. At 3-4 I'd be tempted to put my kid's harnessed seat in there.
