WWYD? Guest sleeping arrangement
My mom and stepdad are coming for the Holidays for 1.5 week. So far we always rented a box spring and mattress for their time over and have a real bed.
We have a sleeper sofa from downstairs that we are going to move to the bedroom upstairs where they usually stay. We just bought a sectional.
The sofa mattress is about 3 inches thick. I have slept on it. It's not good for more than 1 night.
I was thinking about getting a blow up mattress and put the sofa mattress on top of it.
Would that work and be comfy enough?
TIA

We have a cheap air mattress that I bought at Target for $19. MIL visited for 1.5 weeks over the summer so DH and I gave her our bed and we slept on the air mattress. It was actually really comfortable.

Re: WWYD? Guest sleeping arrangement
i wouldn't put another mattress on top of a blow up mattress because i would think it would be a little unstable or put too much pressure on the blowup. but perhaps put the blow up mattress on top of the pull out sofa? or consider buying a memory foam or egg crate foam padding to put on the sofa mattress - that could help make it a lot more comfortable.

Can't you take the queen size bed down my basement, use that & throw it out when you're done?
(not kidding, totally yours if you want it)

I agree, a foam topper is probably a better solution

My mom used to do this, but the air mattress always deflated and slipped around. Now what she does is put a memory foam topper on top of the sofa bed mattress, that works pretty well.

Re: WWYD? Guest sleeping arrangement
I would try to find a foam topper or perhaps a mattress from ikea that can roll up to use on top of the sofa mattress. i think it would be a bit more solid than an air mattress.

I'd get a mattress topper or featherbed on top.

I would use a thick air mattress on top. Like 18" or so. They are a lot easier to store than a pad. For just a week and a half it should be fine. You will have to inflate it daily though because they always leak a little air.

I have to ask DH if we can do that. It's not a bad idea but I don't know how to bring the mattress home. Not on top of my car for sure!
Barb I will let you know.
