WWYD? How to TTC?

So I've been a big lurker on TTC (and, well, most of the other LIF boards ), and I've already learned a lot (THANKS LADIES!).

Now, question for you - WWYD if you were in this situation:

- Currently on BC
- OB/GYN originally said when you want to TTC, get off BC and wait two cycles to start trying
- Sonos have shown cysts, so your OB/GYN now recommends you try to get PG after only one cycle (something about the cysts getting larger with more blood supply which you will have after getting off BC, and the bigger they get, the more issues you MAY have getting PG).

So, with this in mind, when you and your DH decide to actually start TTC, what would you do? Just BD on the 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th days after you get your first period after coming off BC? Or would you just start off right away with either charting or OPK's to help with knowing when you are actually ovulating and BD around that date???

Ideally, I would like to start trying withOUT all the charting, kits, temping, etc etc etc and see if it just happens. But now that I know there could be an issue, I am nervous about having more trouble if it doesn't happen quickly once we start. Thanks for any insight you can provide!

i had similar concerns - about cysts...

most docs will tell you to wait a month or two...but most of the women i know didn't wait - they started right away. SOME people claim that you are UBER fertile after coming off the bcp - but there is also the other side to it - that you might not ovulate at all for a few months....

if i were in your situation, i would try for the first month, without tests, temping, etc... if your cycle is extremely long, do not be surprised....it can happen...

my 'personal' plan when i came off bcp was to do NOTHING for the first month, use OPK's for the second and third and make sure i was ovulating...then i didn't stop with the OPK's, and then i added in temping...

you COULD be surprised and the cysts may NOT come back after coming off the pills (mine did not come back).

If you want to start without OPKs... then do that! Most people don't use OPKs in their first month anyway.

I'd say BD every other day from CD 10 until CD 20 for that first month and see what happens from there.

I definitely recommend using OPKs after that if you want to be a little more proactive and figure out when you ovulate. If you happen to have a very long cycle when coming off BCP, then BDing on CDs 12, 14, 16, 18, might be too early for you.

It will take some time for your body to regulate after coming off BCP, so just expect that your cycles might be a little erratic - but it's not really cause for too much concern. You could get pregnant the 1st month after or it could take much longer... it's just one of those things you really can't predict!

Hey Yesi-my OB said if you don't want to chart or anything, you can BD every other day-that is a good plan.

I would def you just the OPK. They are easy to use and very helpful. Especially since when you get off the pill your cycles will be off..you'll need to know when exactly you are ovulating!!!

If you dont want to use OPK, I would bd from CD 10 until you get AF the first month then after that I would use OPK.. good luck
