WWYD if you "THOUGHT" your OB/GYN lied to you...?
Im just curious to see what you would do in this situation.
What if you were told at 36 weeks that you had to have a c-section because your pelvis was too flat. You were obviously very upset about this but were told you really had no choice. You had the c-section at 38 weeks, baby is fine, perfect, etc. A year later you switch OB/GYNS and they ask why you had a c-section, you tell them because your pelvis was too flat and they tell you that your pelvis if fine for vaginal birth and that they would have known way before 36 weeks if that were the case. WWYD? Would you confront your old OB/GYN about this?

Yes and frankly I'd report them to their licensing board.

Re: WWYD if your OB/GYN lied to you...?
Not sure if I would confront the doctor, because I'm not sure if anything would come of it...unless I was saying something just to feel better and get it off my chest, which if it were me, I wouldn't bother.
I WOULD look into filing a formal complaint against them that would go on their record with the AMA (I think that's what it's called)...that would help others out in addition to making me feel better.

Re: WWYD if your OB/GYN lied to you...?
Yes I would and I would find out why he/she lied(I'm sure it was all about money ) to you and maybe even sue the office depending on the situation. I would make sure that they never do the same thing to anyone else. another crazy OB/GYN story. I had a very bad experience with mine too she also made few stupid mistakes and it almost cost me my baby.

You cannot SUE a doctor for this. There was no damage, both the baby and the mother were fine!
To the OP, I would ask my current doctor if there was any reason why the previous doctor would have thought that and I would probably call the other office to speak to the OB to ask him what he thought.

I would give the old doctor an opportunity to defend his/her decision.

Re: WWYD if your OB/GYN lied to you...?
I had a similar situation. two of the OB's in the practice said I could do a C bc my pelvis was very narrow and flat. I wanted to have a c sec anyway, I always wanted that. anyway, when I went into labor, a doc on call did an internal and said there was absolutley no reason why I should not have the baby vaginally. he was stunned that the other two docs said this, and even called them on conference I wound up with the C bc one of my docs came in, and was so happy since that's what I wanted anyway, but OB's experience is so different, maybe your old OB had a situation where someone was built like you , and wound up in an emergency situation , and OB wanted to avoid that, KWIM?
I don't think I would bring it up, I would just be happy that everything went well for you and baby

I would get your current doc to read the notes. There has to be something in your file stating why a C was recommended

Re: WWYD if your OB/GYN lied to you...?
I don't necessarily think the OB/GYN lied.... perhaps the doctor really believed that the patient needed a c/s. People often get 2nd and even 3rd opinions and each one varies.....
I would maybe go back and ask why the doctor felt it necessary but I wouldn't accuse them of lying.

Re: WWYD if your OB/GYN lied to you...?
I really don't know anything about this issue - like whether it is is a subjective or objective thing - clear cut or not etc. and this would all make a difference in my opinion BUT, I b/v forcing you into (and that is what happened to you) having SURGERY if you absolutely and clearly don't need it is malpractice if that is the case!

It would be malpractice if there were damages, like some trauma happened to her or the baby, neither happened (thank god!) so it isn't "technically" malpractice

Who is sue-happy? My child is healthy, I have nothing to sue for. Im concerned that both doctors in my old OB/GYN practice said I needed a c/s and two doctors in my new practice said that there was no reason why I needed one. I plan on having more children and I would like to know what exactly is going on with my body. How does wanting to be informed about my body make me sue-happy? I was asking for advice as to even mention it to my old OB.

I don't think anyone was saying YOU were sue happy!! Two other people mentioned it, not you

Re: WWYD if your OB/GYN lied to you...?
I think it's more of a difference of professional opinion as opposed to being 'lied' to ...... You said BOTH Dr(s) in your old practice were in agreement.....and both in this new practice are in agreement w/ a different opinion ......
So, why do you automatically beleive practice #2 and assume practice #1 Dr(s) are liars ??? KWIM?

LOL. I wasn't using the term malpractice in a legal sense. That said, not that she would, and, although I am an atty I know NOTHING about malpractice - if this was a clear cut issue (again I know nothing about it) I'm sure she could find some way to sue seeing as she had surgery presumably for no reason. Like if a dr. said you had to have your appendix out and took them out and it turned out u didn't need to - just b/c you were a-ok this wouldnt mean there was no "damage" - damage can be construed in a number of ways!

The reason I switched OB's was because, I was told that Platypelloid isn't all that common but two other women who are seen at that practice were also told the same thing at 36 weeks and were scheduled for c/s's. I thought it was a little odd so that is why I decided to get a 2nd opinion before TTC again. That is the reason I kind of feel lied to. I changed my subject title LOL

Re: WWYD if you "THOUGHT" your OB/GYN lied to you...?
Thank you! I didn't say OP was sue-happy, I was just stating in general, sue-happy people drive me crazy. Lots of people sue without clearly thinking through things, that's all.
I agree with what others said before, I wouldn't say that's necessarily lying. Having different opinions is not lying. Pregnancies can be different from one to another. I also am not defending either of your OB's. I just think it's jumping to conclusions to call someone a liar, based on what you wrote.

I really do think you were severely mislead. Maybe (I won't say definitely) the doctors don't have a clue what they're talking about, or they are just c-section happy. The only way such a rare condition would keep appearing at their practice is fr those reasons IMO.

Yes, confront right away, but thats me and thats because I dislike C/S's unless 100% neccesary and I would be devestated that mis information made me have one.
