WWYD? issue with close friends
DH and I went to our friend's apartment for the first time on Friday. They are renting out a family member's condo and have been living there for only one week. The family member put in new carpets about two weeks ago.
So, the show us the roof of the building and we go back into the apartment. We realize moments later that we all have TAR all over our shoes, BUT ONLY DH tracked it all over the carpet!
They got a carpet cleaner to come clean it up. We offered to pay for the entire cleaning or at least half but the insist it isnt our fault, it could have been anyone. Our friend had to miss the Yankee game ( which may have been better for him LOL ) bc he had to wait for the cleaners.
Do you think we should do anything else? I wish they would let us pay or at least would have called me to wait at the apt. . . but should we push the issue or send something?

I think offering to pay for the carpet cleaners was a nice gesture on your part. You couldn't have known that was going to happen with the tar..

I agree.
You could always send an Edible arrangement or something like that since they wouldn't let you pay for the cleaning.

I agree.
You could always send an Edible arrangement or something like that since they wouldn't let you pay for the cleaning.

She really handled it so well, I honestly think I would have cried - it looks so terrible!

To be funny - I'd send some heavy duty carpet cleaner. Like something you could buy from Stanley Steemer. Along with a little note - like, 'next time you need to use this - call us!'

if your DH and your friend are close, maybe your DH can take him to another game to make up for having to miss it while waiting for the cleaners.
of course I know nothing about baseball or the yankees, or the going rate for tickets at the new stadium... so ignore that if it sounds ridiculous lol
