WWYD??? Kinda long...
The other night DH and I had back to school night so MIL watched DD who is 5mths old. I love my MIL - she is great and has watched DD many times before. This time, however, we were dropping DD off to MIL at her school where she works b/c it would have been far for us to go home and come back.
We drop DD off, and MIL is worried that carrying DD in the carseat might be a little heavy (she is on the older side) so DH puts it in the car. I ask MIL before we leave if she needs anything else to go to the car, and I bring a bag down for her.
Fast forward to when we get home. DD is fine and asleep and I am talking to MIL and she says: "I had to bring some stuff down to car, so I asked that father who waiting for his daughter in the hallway to hold DD while I brought the stuff down"???????????????????? WHAT!!!
I kinda was in shock, so I didn't really say anything. Then after she left, I mentioned it to DH who kinda blew it off but it has been bothering me all week. I mean how well does she know this guy?? I don't want some stranger holding DD. So I mentioned it again to DH last night - this time I was pretty upset about it. He said he would talk to her - but I have a feeling she is going to take it personally or think I am overreacting. I just feel that if we don't say something now, who is to say she won't say at the supermarker "can you watch the stroller while I...."
Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: WWYD??? Kinda long...
I've been asked by frazzled moms to keep on eye on their kid while they took another kid to the bathroom, etc. Once I asked someone in a doctor's office to watch ds in his car seat because I needed an x-ray & he couldn't come in with me.
Unless she mentioned it to DH, I would talk to her about it directly, so it doesn't turn into a "DW is upset with you but I think it's no big deal" situation.
Maybe say "Next time you have something that needs carrying, I'd rather you ask the stranger to help you carry the stuff than carry DD".

I would be upset too! That generation doesn't always think about it the way we do - unfortunately, we have to!
Maybe just wait until she watches DC again and say something like, "we REALLY appreciate your help - but let's make sure you're all set before we leave b/c I don't want you to leave DC with someone I don't know again".
