WWYD re: best friend's wedding in Vermont
My due date is September 14th. My best friend is getting married in her hometown in Vermont September 5th, only a week before my due date. She is technically already married...they got married in her hometown in a small ceremony by the justice of the peace last September but they are renewing their vows in a church and having a reception this September.
From LI to where she lives in Vermont it is a little over 4 hours. I dont know if I am going to be able to go and I am so upset. She completely understands and would not be upset with me at all if I didn't go, but I really want to try my hardest. I thought I could go to the OB on Friday and if I'm not dialated go to the wedding and come back the next day. If I'm dialated I obviously can't go. Is this crazy to even consider it?
The other thing is her bridal shower is in Vermont in July. Should I go to the shower knowing I more than likely will not be able to go to the wedding?
I dont even know if it's healthy or safe for a woman who is 9 mo. pregnant to sit and drive in a car for 4 hours. I would imagine by that time I will be swelling a little and very uncomfortable. I would be taking the chance that my water could break or I could go into labor in Vermont.
WWYD?

If it was me, I would not even consider going to the wedding since it is a week before my due date & it is 4 hours away. I would not be comfortable being that far away from home with the possibility of anything happening.
Since she is having a shower in July, I would go up for that (as long as you feel good). Even though you are not going to the wedding (with a legitimate reason) being at the shower will be nice & at least you participated in her day in some way

Re: WWYD re: best friend's wedding in Vermont
I would ABSOLUTELY go to her shower in July. Especially if I wasn't sure if I was going to make the wedding, this way I'm still part of her wedding activities and can share her special day with her. The wedding is really up to your comfort level. I was dilated for 3 weeks and nothing. So in hindsight I would have gone and had a great time. But really, I don't even think you can answer that question until the time comes. Is there any way you can tell her that you won't know until right up until her wedding, like a couple of days before? Normally the rule with reception places is that once they have the number, they can't go down but they can always go up. Also, keep in mind, you could go early in which case you couldn't go either. So I'd wait and see on the wedding until you get a little closer if possible.

Weddings in Vermont are not as strict as they are around here with numbers so she isn't worried about that. She told me last night she doesnt even have to give her final count until a few days before and it's only so they make enough food...it's a buffet.
I was 1 cm dilated with DS for a week but I had him on his EXACT due date which is so rare. I doubt that will happen again this time around but from what I heard the 2nd comes earlier. My mom thinks I am crazy for even considering to go being I could go into labor at any time.

I would definitely go to the shower. I would probably not go to the wedding. If it was two weeks before, I might, but one week is too close for my comfort.

I was told last week by my doc at 36 weeks I was not to go more than 40 miles or hour away from home/hospital so I would not go to the wedding for sure!

Re: WWYD re: best friend's wedding in Vermont
I would try my hardest to make the shower, because in all reality the chances of making it to the wedding are pretty slim!
Also, I have taken a few road trips to my sisters in Maryland and the dr. told me to always stop every 1-1 1/2 hours to get up and walk around a bit for my circulation. So it makes the usual 3 1/2 -4 hour trip longer with the stops.
