WWYD? (sorry kind of long)
We live in a 2BR apt. The entrance to the apt is in the kitchen. On the 1st floor is a kitchen, LR, bathroom, and 2BRs. Then we have a full finished basement with another 1/2 bath down there.
Our original plan when I found out I was pg #2 was for Kaydyn and DC#2 to share a room. We would keep the baby in our room until I went back to work (8 weeks) and then put them in together. The 2nd bedroom is small so we would have to transition Kaydyn to a toddler bed b/c we can't fit 2 cribs.
Well we were at a party a couple of weeks ago and one of our friends suggested that we move into the LR and move Kaydyn into our room and keep the smaller room as the nursery. It sounds like a good plan, but
1) it would mean our LR would be in the basement which doesn't have the greatest heat.
2) when we have family over (which is prob about 4-5 times a year) we would have to schlep everything to the basement.
and 3) I would have to be going up and down those stairs a couple of times a day immediately after having a c-section with a 2yo and a NB
So would you make the move or just leave it the way it is and have the two kids room together?

I would have the 2 kids share a room. They are little and don't need much space in their room- just room enough to sleep.
This is assuming you would eventually get a bigger place (when the kids are older and need/want more space)

i agree as well. when they are that small, the bedrooms are really just for sleeping (and sometimes time outs ). they will get used to sharing. and if the baby cries too much you can have him/her in a bassinet in your room to help Kaydyn sleep.

I'd also keep things as they are and put the kids in the same room. It sounds stressful now, but I know it will work out...a ton of kids share rooms!

Re: WWYD? (sorry kind of long)
I grew up sharing a room, and its kind of fun for a while....plus it would be much easier on you after a c-sec! if it doesn't work, you could always switch around then and use the lr!
