x-post from Pregnancy - Diaper Pail Question

Sorry to barge in but I have a question that I think BTDT Moms will be able to answer.

On a few friends recommendations I am registering for the Diaper Champ.

My question is should we get 1 for each floor? Bedrooms and nursery are upstairs and I'm sure we'll be spending much of our daytime hours downstairs on the first floor.

What is your kitchen trash like? We have a compactor that is airtight, so I put wet diapers in there if we are downstairs. The diaper champ is on the second floor. They aren't expensive, so I wouldn't think too hard about it... they just take up space so I didn't want one on the first floor.

It's a rubbermaid can with a lid you step on to open- far rom air tight. We empty it every 3 or so days.

DH's grandmother stayed with us for the first few months and babysat for Jackson until he went into daycare.
We'd bring the diaper champ downstairs for her to use, and then at night we'd bring it back upstairs to change him during the night.

I'd do that, otherwise you'll have TWO of them to clean! (they occasionally get stinky and I wash them out with Lysol).

Re: x-post from Pregnancy - Diaper Pail Question

I threw my diaper pail out after Jack was about 1 year becasue it was just gross. It is much easier, cleaner and not as smelly to just throw them out in the garage. We keep a pail in the garage that is just for diapers. IMO works so much better than having it in the house.

Honestly, i wouldn't waste the money..use a garbage bag and dump it every day. I bought it and tossed it in the same week..they suck. Something about leaving a crappy diper for long periods of time no matter where you put it..it still stinksChat Icon

I have the same set up. Bedrooms are all upstairs.
I use a waste basket with plastic bags (from the grocery store) that gets tied up and thrown out every night.
I keep the Diaper Dekor up in the nursery.

I wouldn't waste my money on them, I buy Diaper Sacks in a pack and put the dirty diaper in them, and into the kitchen garbage they go! that goes out on a daily basis. I bought a diaper pail and wish I had spent the money on something else, mine went into the attic after about 4 weeks!!!

I have to agree with this. WE have the diaper genie and when DD was small the poopy diapers didn't stink much now fuhgetaboutit man! I had to take the diaper genie and let it air outside for a couple of days. kiddie poopy is wicked!

Just throw your garbage out each day.
