Re: Xanax

Yes. Both my DH and I have taken it for panic attacks. I don't care for it, it makes me worse. My husband likes it and it works for him.

Was going to until the Dr. told me I could gain weight. And that was the last thing I wanted to hear before I got married. I was a complete baskit case, talk about anxiety attacks, I was a mess.

I took it from last May through December 23rd. I took it for panic attacks and became addicted. I then decided to weam myself off of it since October and it took me until Dec 23.

My advice...if it's for panic - don't take it everyday. I probably should have been given a different medication because I needed it everyday. And it made them worse.

Now that I am medication free, I feel a 10000 times better.

FM me if you have any questions....

Xanax is a great medicine for intermittent anxiety and panic attacks. It is short acting so it works quickly for at the moment aid. But it has a very short half life so it wears off quickly and if you are anxious most of the day you will feel rebound anxiety and feel worse when it wears off. There are similar medicines that are longer lasting.

DH & I both use it as needed

Re: Xanax

I was prescribed this for panic attacks. Turned out I was not having panic attacks, but rather my body was toxic (long friggin story).

It made me fall asleep within 10 minutes. No joke. And I am the kind of person who can chew Vicodin & still function.

Re: Xanax

I have a filled prescription. I only take it when I really feel I need it. My prescription is for 25 pills and I had it filled in September and I think I have 22 left.

Only once - the nurse insisted before surgery. IMO it was completely unnecessary.

I'm like you. I have it sitting in the closet just in case, but I only take one when I'm extremely anxious. I usually also take them when I have to fly because I am a white-knuckle flier.

Re: Xanax

yes in the past for anxiety, but was taking every day and was addicted so weaned off.

I was given a few times since then an RX for as needed. Which I prefer. Its fast acting IMO....

Me three. I have major anxiety about flying. It's really the only time I take it. I didn't realize there was a stigma associated with taking it (I'm a little out of touch when it comes to these issues).

Re: Xanax

I gave it to DH when we flew to St. Lucia for our honeymoon. He was alot more calm and relaxed the plane ride down there, whcih was a good thing.

I took it for anxiety a few years ago and it was good for me, but it was short-lived.

What she said!

Xanax is extremely addicting and one of the most difficult and dangerous drugs to withdraw from. If you need to use it more than on an "as needed" basis, talk to your doctor to get something else that is more long acting and less addictive.

ETA: With this post, I have 666. If that isn't a sign of the potential danger of Xanax, I don't know what is. Chat Icon

Re: Xanax

Is it bad that I read the title and said to myself "yes please"

All kidding aside.. I was perscribed it once but never filled the perscription cause I am a very "non med" type person...I dont even take cold medicine.. and I learned to deal with my anxiety in other ways.
