XP: Has anyone taken a new job at 5 1/2 months pregnant? Or WOULD you?
It sounds like a great position, and something Iwould have jumped at months ago, but now that I am so far along, I have no idea what to do.
I have a phone interview on Monday which is perfect for me to have level playing ground with everyone else, but what if they want to go to the next level?
Anyone been in this situation before?

I would be upfront with them about your pregnancy. I dont think you are obligated to tell them and they are NOT permitted to ask you but I think that you might want to let them know. As an employer, I know I would be very upset if someone accepted a job knowing they would be out on maternity just a few months after starting. Not to mention, you might want to make sure that you would qualify for maternity time, benefits etc.
Good luck!

I would say something to them and they woud abviously see that I am pregnant in person. I just want to see how the phone interview goes before I say anything, this way I can see if I even get to the next level on my own merit.
I don't get any maternity as it is, so that really wouldn't matter to me.....

In that case, I would definitely wait until you meet them in person to explain the situation. I think its fine to do the phone interview and see if you get to the next level!

Re: XP: Has anyone taken a new job at 5 1/2 months pregnant? Or WOULD you?
I did. I took a job at 6 months preggo. I am a consultant, and I took a 3 month contract starting when I was 6 months. They knew up front I was preggo. I was traveling back and forth to Las Vegas, and they knew I might not make it to the end of the contract, but hired me anyway. Well...I wound up having DD early, so I didn't finish out the contract on-site...but I worked from home after DD was born.
I am still doing some work for them (from home), so it was a good turnout for me. Good luck

Kim, it's so good to hear a wonderful turnout! A friend of mine said she hired a preggo who was something like 7 months, she was the best candidate, so why not?

I have no benefits with my job now, I have nothing here, just a paycheck.....
My benefits are with DH, thankfully.
ETA: I am totally putting the cart before the horse, just seeing what others would do in the situation....thanks!

Do you qualify for FMLA at your current job, b/c you won't at the new one. You need to be an employee for 12 months prior to going out.
I'd be concerned about them not holding a job for me and then having to do a job search while trying to get used to having a newborn. I would have been hard pressed to find someone who could have watched my daughter while I went on interviews.

ITA.
I would do the phone interview. Get a feel for it then decide if you want to go further.

I get squat right now. The only thing I get at my current job is a paycheck. No FMLA, no retirement, benefits, nothing. So it basically would be the same at a new job anyway.

I was planning on trying to get a new job after the baby anyway, so again, I would be in the same boat anyway!

I say go for it. I got a new job when I was PG and then I hated it so I got another job while on leave and love it.
I am so happy with the path I chose. Even thought I hated the first one I still wouldn't change anything.
Good Luck!!!!!

My boss at my last company was hired whilst heavily pregnant. She was the best person for the job, she worked with us for about 3 months, went off on maternity leave, came back and it all worked out great.

I would see how the phone interview goes. Once you knock their socks off and you get a second interview, I would tell HR your situation.

I am very optimistic, given the corporation it is. I looked into the company and saw a lot of things I really liked. TONS of awards and incentives for employees, work at home positions in all departments, and community work that is nothing short of impressive.
