XPost from Home - Dog urine removal from carpet!
My dog pee'd on my son's brand new carpet during the thunderstorm the other morning. I've been using Rug Doctor Pet Enzyme Cleaner for two days and it still smells!
My friend suggested rubbing baking powder into it which I am going to try. Any other suggestions?

Try Resolve. I've been using this for years and it takes care of odors as well as stains.

I have heard vinegar can work and maybe an enzyme detergent. Try not to use something with ammonia in it, b/c that will attract them to pee there again. That is what my vet said for cats, maybe it is the same for dogs?

Drs. Foster and Smith has a large selection of sprays for old urine stains. I would try one of those. I have a few here and have used them on old pee stains and it seems to work for me.

Unfortunately, I was told that its not the carpet that retains the smell its the padding. Is there anyway you can clean or change that.

Ditto this. Don't be stingy either. Try and soak the area so that it gets down to the pad under the carpet.

I have to tell you guys...we have had the hardest time with the urine smell in our back bedroom cuz Misty pee'd back there a couple times. I've tried everything in the last year The other nite I was in Petco and bought this stuff from Petrotech - and it worked!!!! I used the entire $10 can but there is absolutely no smell in that room whatsoever... I highly recommend it!!
