xpost -vaccinations and ped. opinions
I'm posting here as well as parenting as I really need advice on this....
I am not a mom yet but about to start the process of interviewing ped. I have a question for those of you that may be delaying vaccinations or not vaccinating at all.....how did your doctor react to this when you first broguht up the subject. In my interview process I want to bring this up as I will not go with a ped. who does not have an open mind (I plan to delay some shots) jsut wondering what types of reactions to expect as I'm just not sure how common this is...In fact I almost don't wnt to wate my time going to see someone that is going to give me a hard time but not sure how to avoid that....any info welcome....TIA!!

What if you ask for pediatrician recommendations from mom's that successfully were able to do this with their doctors?

I think you will find doctors that are supportive of splitting up and delaying vaccinations if your child isn't in a group daycare setting. Fewer doctors would be supportive of no vaccinations at all -- they've seen kids with these diseases in the hospital!

Depending on the practice you will get different reactions. I made sure I picked someone that shared my parenting philosophy on treating colds, vaccines and illnesses. They said they do not push the parents, only suggest and can only allow the parent to ultimetly make the decisions. Obviously they were the office for us. You as the parent has the right to delay or refuse any vaccine you wish. When it comes time for your child to attend a school they are the ones that look for the child to be vaccinated before they begin their schooling.

Re: xpost -vaccinations and ped. opinions
I think delaying/splitting vaccines has become very common, so I would be surprised if a doctor had a significant problem with it. I would think the bigger issue would be if they could get the vaccines in seperate pieces - I have no clue how that work. I also wonder how insurance companies handle it.
Honestly, I think you would have a very hard time finding a doctor who was totally okay with not vaccinating at all - unless you have a strong religious reason.
