YAY!!!!!!!! He did it! (Proud mommy post with PICS)
HE SWAM OVER 5 FEET ALL BY HIMSELF!!!!!!! 
I've been slacking off on teaching him swimming over the past 6 months, not really pushing him. (It was MUCH easier to push other people's kids when I was teaching them. I am a wimp with my own.  ) But the past few weeks I got him back in the groove. I wanted him to be okay by his 2nd birthday.
Yesterday he kept doing it with the tube on, so today I took the tube off. AND HE DID IT!!!! He pushed off the steps and swam to me!!!!!!! 
Here he is yesterday, with the tube on.
Today I tried getting pics of him swimming, but he only wanted to jump to daddy.

Got any hints on how I can help DD learn how to swim? She LOVES the water- and my In-laws have a pool in their backyard.

Getting them to kick is KEY!!! It's all about the legs until they get to be about 3-4 years old.
And make sure when they jump in that you bring them back to the wall immediately. (Or steps, or wherever they came from.) Repitition helps. This way, if God forbid, they ever fell in, then know to turn around and grab the wall behind them. Many kids drown because they try to get to the wall in front of them, across the pool.
