Yellow eye boogies (sorry)
Over the weekend my DS had tons of yellow eye boogies and yellow discharge from his nose. Since it was a holiday weekend and we were away, we called the doctor and she prescribed eye drops over the phone. He's been fine, the eye junk is barely there anymore but I am wondering what it could have been? I thought it was odd that they would prescribe something without seeing him. We were visiting someone's house with 2 dogs and we were thinking he maybe was allergic to them because it stopped pretty much when we got home...I looked up bacterial conjunctivitis and it may have been that...I don't know...has anyone's DC had this before? We have a dog at home but the dogs at the house we were visiting were different...

Re: Yellow eye boogies (sorry)
DS had pink eye once and his eyes were just filled with yellow, nasty eye boogies. When he napped, he couldn't open his eyes because the goop would stick them shut. ... poor little guy.
I don't know. Personally, I don't like it when doctors fill prescriptions over the phone without seeing you first. How do they know that you really need the prescription?
Don't know what your DS had, but I am glad he is doing better!

Re: Yellow eye boogies (sorry)
this happened to DD on father's day
we took her to an Urgent Care and they thought ear infxn but her ears were "clear" so they said it was pink eye. her eyes wasnt even pink, let alone red.
3 days later she had a 104 fever and an ear infxn
coincidence? maybe. but im thinking it was the beginning of the ear infxn and not pink eye. other than irritability and the fever she had no signs of the ear infxn. didnt pull on her ear

Re: Yellow eye boogies (sorry)
DD (one month old) has had some yellow discharge out of her left eye for about 2 weeks n(not consistent though). Peditrician said it was a clogged duct and to just keep wiping it with warm washclothes. He also showed us some massages to do to her eye area to open the duct.

Re: Yellow eye boogies (sorry)
DD had that as well - the ped said it was a clogged tear duct and prescribed some oinment for her eye. I had to put it in 3x a day for 5 days - but it cleared up in a day or 2. It must be pretty common as they didn't have me bring her in to be seen for it either.

Re: Yellow eye boogies (sorry)
DD has gotten pink eye a few times and the yellow gunk is the only sign that she has it.
The "best" thing about it, is it's an easy fix. Those drops knock it out of her in a day. Down side is that it's highly contagious and your DC shouldn't be around other kids until the gunk is gone.
