Yes another temp question (really confused)
I have been reading post after post about people concerned about temps that are what i thought were actually NORMAL ex 99.5
What do you consider a normal temp????
What do you consider a low grade temp?

Re: Yes another temp question (really confused)
I honestly think it depends on the person/situation. Like I said earlier, my ped said not to be concerned til 101.3.
But I know for me personally, my temp is low, in the 96 range, so that would be a high fever for me.

Re: Yes another temp question (really confused)
I posted re 99.5 because I don't know what's normal. When DS had 99.9 I called the ped and she referred to it as a "low grade fever" and advised me to give him Tylenol every 4 hrs but I didn't know what the cut off was/is.

Re: Yes another temp question (really confused)
i really don't think i know anymore. My DS has had more colds, viruses and ear infections then probably this whole board.
I was just reading that a common cause of a cold is a viral infection, which he did have a week ago. So i am trying not to overreact here. I just am at my witts ends with these fevers.
Called the ped and they said it is prob because of the cold as well but it just doesn't make me feel any better
DS seems to be in relatively ok spirits despite the coughing and runny/stuffy nose.
it is the fevers that kill ME

WOW....my DS's NORMAL temp is usually anywhere from 99.4 - 99.7
In the ams he will even get to be 99.9

I'm going to wait a few days and take DS's temp so I can gauge his "normal" temp. I was surprised she referred to 99.9 as a low grade fever but figured she knows best. She might have just been giving generic advise Meanwhile DH has been asking me to keep DS in while he is "sick" but I don't think he is sick at all. I told DH, being that Ryan is constantly attached to another human being, you would think he would be a little warm at all times.

Re: Yes another temp question (really confused)
My ped said that a low grade fever is 100.4 - and to call him when she gets anything that temp or higher. 98 and 99 I think are considered normal.

Re: Yes another temp question (really confused)
It all depends.... DW knows that her temp runs a little low, so 98.6 is actually a bit elevated for her. I wouldn't worry about anything under 100 for the most part.

Same here. Ped said normal. Anything below 100.5 is not considered a fever according to him and he said until over 101 don't have to give tylenol.
