Yes or No Question for the Lawyers Out There
Can you bring a suit for damages in District Court or only Supreme?
Cause of action: slander/defamation. Don't really have $$$ for index # and RJI in Supreme.

Do you mean a small claims matter? Yes....small claims you cant ask for more than 5K in damages and Civil Court *disctrict out here on LI) the juridx limit is 25K

Isn't defamation considered a federal question, and thus, can only be brought in federal (district) court?

No, I don't mean small claims, I mean an actual civil suit charging someone with slander. The cost to start the action in Supreme is cost prohibitive given how difficult it is to prove.
