Exactly, the unemployment number is so skewed because it doesn't include those who have given up trying to find employment. Better statistic is the labor participation rate which has declined since Obama took office. The rate went from 66.2 in 2008 to 62.8 in 2016. Obama's policies have not produced jobs.
That rate is skewed too. It includes people well over retirement age and we have people living longer.

Yeah. It's actually very sad. You think you know every answer, to every topic about everything that goes on here on Long Island and in the rest of world. When you don't or are proven wrong you resort to name calling .
You are everything you accused all of us "deplorables "of being from the beginning. I'm glad you finally showed your true colors. Just like a lot of Hillary supporters.. And these type of attacks, not that we have no belief in President Elect Trump being the better choice than Hillary, are why the op and the "silent majority" felt the need to hide it. I remember so many times people on this page trying to get trump supporters to speak so they could attack. Now they are still attacking. But the worst offenders are the Bernie/Hillary "tolerant ones".

That was entirely my point. It does not matter now. Our silence paid off. HRC was given a run for her money that she slacked on due to not knowing the true support DT had.

But some that i know are:
One coworker lumps "its the muslims"...
Another feels all muslims should be banned from entering the country
A high school "friend" on FB (whom i deleted since) posted on the alumni page last week how he couldnt wait for Trump to win so that we can get to being "white christian America". It was about voting for Hindu and Muslim holidays in the school calendar.
With others its the undertone of what they say that is apparent they are speaking of certain races and groups of people

I said this in another thread, that I was of course disputed on. My husband was laid off 2 times under Obama (after 25 years in the same career under various presidents). He maxed out his unemployment both times and therefore was no longer factored in as unemployed. The Obamacare plan we looked into taking, a GOOD plan, that doctors we had actually would TAKE, cost $1700 a month. Sure we could have gotten Medicaid but we didn't WANT free healthcare. We wanted to use our doctors, who do not take Medicaid. Lucky for us my husband got a job FINALLY almost when time had run out with our Cobra (that we paid $2400 a month for 16 months). Had he not gotten the job and had we had to take Obamacare to continue to see our doctors and get decent healthcare, the plan we would have had for $1700 would have been going up to more than what we paid for our Cobra all that time.
So so glad for any change, that is not from the democratic party.

Sadly , this board has been taken over by a small group of mean girls. If you don't agree or believe every word they say they will tear you apart. I saw it with the ruthlessness against one person who stopped posting because she was bullied, even after she deactivated her account. Also,with another poster who had different views that a mean girl/bully tried to bring up some past drama that didn't even exist or pertain. It's why I barely come on here anymore. Because it's the liberal island families, and if you don't agree with everything they think you should, you get called a racist (no matter what the topic), and torn down. It's worse than high school.

I've been confused all day at Trump supporters on FB talking about the sore losers who are being nasty. I'm seeing some very gloat-y posts from the right, but for the most part my left leaning friends have been respectful and quiet. Now I see where all the hate is. This thread makes me sad and disappointed.

-My cousin wrote on his FB page that a friend of his had a student come into the classroom saying another student called him a f****t. His response when he was asked why he said it? "Because I can now."

Yeah, they kind of have to work with him if they want their own country to survive. That's how international relations works. I disagree that we want Russia as an ally. I don't. Not with Putin in charge anyway.

I have reported these threads numerous times, only the ones were a certain posters are cursing at people, so either nobody is moderating anymore, or Ron & Kim enjoy this. I mean they let posters curse at people but supposedly gave Danielle's ( DaniJude I think) BF the IP address of people who were mean to her??? So i'm guessing they want this to happen. One of the reasons I don't think this forum has long.

Wow. I am not a Trump supporter. Not even close. But the ugliness in this thread, coming from BOTH sides, is disturbing. America doesn't need Trump to destroy us. We will destroy ourselves. "A house divided against itself cannot stand". So sad. I am disappointed in a Trump presidency.
