Re: "you can just bring dessert"
Italian Pasteries or a cheescake. If I get a cheescake I get the one where each slice is a different flavour.

Re: "you can just bring dessert"
I usually go to the bakery and bring an assortment of pastries-canoli, brownies, tri-color cookies-that way there's something for everyone...or I bring a fruit tray

Re: "you can just bring dessert"
I would bring something that is either personal, or decadent.. .
i.e. something that these people cannot get near them-- and really delicious-- not just standard bakery cookies.. Like, is there a place in your hood that is known for amazing cupcakes or cookies, etc. As much as you are not making it, IMO, it's more thoughtful cause the place where you got it is special.
Or, pick up some stuff at like Jacques Torres-- really beautiful and decadent chocolate.

Re: "you can just bring dessert"
i ususally buy a dessert (cheesecake, bakery brownies) and make one (i make a killer tiramisu)
when we go to a holiday at FH's family, there is usually more dessert than regular food. and we're ok with that

I like mini pastries. They have these at Uncle Guisseppes. You can get a bunch of stuff that way everyone can try something.

Re: "you can just bring dessert"
Depends on where we are going.
But I'm going to my sister's house for Easter and I'm making a cheesecake w/ strawberries and chocolate chip cookies for the kids. We just found out more people are going, so I might make another cake or cupcakes for the kids.
Bakery cookies and cakes work well too.
And hey, D&D Munchkins are always fun to snack on in addition to another dessert!
