HaHahaha I did this on Christmas day! I was supposed to bring a dessert over to my Uncle's for what else dessert. I completely forgot and none of the supermarkets were open, so we I stopped at Dunkin Donuts. My mom wasn't very thrilled.

This may sound cheesy, but I always keep frozen cream puffs from Costco in my freezer. They are amazing! I just take them out before I go so they defrost, coat w/ powdered sugar or drizzle / melted chocolate and it's an amazing dessert that's so easy and delicious!

I always bring something homemade.
But I LOVE baking, so it's a good excuse for me to do it.

I'm making a strawberry pavlova! its easy as pie (which is actually more difficult than pavlova) you make your meringue, shove some strawberries, raspberries and cream on it...then shove it in your gob and swallow!!!

Re: "you can just bring dessert"

I usually make Ghiradelli brownies from a mix. It is very quick - about 5 minutes to mix it - and they are so good people think you made them from scratch.

mmmm pavlova, very Aussie of you. I love that stuff. I have yet to make it. But they do sell a bunch of pavlova kits here. One day I will try it..
