Re: young married couple - what to do with extra bedrooms?
We have 4 bedrooms total One is the master, 1 is a guest room, 1 is an office and 1 is for storage (can't even walk in the room!!) I am in the process of cleaning out the storage room and going to redo it and make it another guest room/workout room - I am moving the treadmill and all the weights and stuff in there. Most of my IL's live out of state - so I need more than 1 guest room when they are here. Can you make it a workout room?

Re: young married couple - what to do with extra bedrooms?
We have a 2bdrm coop.
Our second bdrm has a couch that becomes a bed for guests. It also has some contraption that DH uses for pull ups and dips
We have a file type drawer in there for our bills and important paperwork.
So basically it is a guest room, office, workout space....

Re: young married couple - what to do with extra bedrooms?
ok im thinking... - a big comfy black leather chair with an ottoman (maybe one of those ottomans that open to a twin size bed?) - a funky area rug (we just had the wood floors redone) - cheap desk on one wall with chair (i have one i bought an antique one on CL 2 years ago that i was going to put in the guest room and use as a vanity but it might work better in the office - file cabinet in closet (have a metal one and its ugly) - crown molding (small room- should be easy) - and maybe a book shelf?like the kind that leans against the wall and looks like a ladder and not fill it with boo, maybe some pictures, fake plant, cute saying kinda art. etc.
thanks guys!!!!!
and most of this stuff can go into a nursery one day!!

AWESOME.
You can spray paint your metal filing cabinet too. My bro had a beige/tan one - totally generic and he spray painted it black - looks great. That would fit with your black chair too.

We did something similar to this for our office, knowing that it will eventually (hopefully) morph easily into a nursery. The office is very useful for us now, it's also a good room for reading because of a comfy chair, and it's nice to have a finished room, rather than one that's empty or cluttered. If it becomes a nursery, I will simply sell the desk and likely keep the rest of the furniture and probably the artwork as well. Depending on where you are located, craigslist could be a great resource for selling off what you don't need - when we lived closer to Manhattan I had no trouble selling unneeded furniture to recent college grads for a few bucks.

Re: young married couple - what to do with extra bedrooms?
We bought a 5 bedroom house so we had 4 extra rooms. One we turned into a den, one is a guest room, one is a comp room and the last one we left empty. The empty one is now the baby's room and the guest room will eventually be another bedroom when we have #2

Our spare room is a multi purpose room. Its an office/library/guest room/yoga room lol
I got a desk from Ikea, bookshelves from Target with all DH's Stephen King books, pictures, etc.
I got a futon from Ikea which is a couch that folds down into a bed for two.
futon
desk (not mine but mine is simliar but in black and white)
I have the futon facing the computer so that DH and I can watch our shows online too

Re: young married couple - what to do with extra bedrooms?
We have a 3 br colonial; our br, guest br, and office. Once DD was born, the office became her room and the office was moved to the den. We bought a desk at IKEA 5 years ago for like $200 and it's still in great condition.

Re: young married couple - what to do with extra bedrooms?
I have 4 bedrooms
Master Guest Computer Room 2nd Guest Room (future nursery one day!)
I got a desk and bookcase from Home Decorators for around $500 which I think is an ok price if you are going to use it for a few years. You can always sell it when you dont need it anymore or put in in a basement or other room.
