Your child's birthday celebration in school
Did you bring in anything to help celebrate?
I'm thinking of regular size cupcakes, party hats, plates...I would love to give the teacher a candle to light for him to blow out but I'm pretty sure that's a no-no and I would love to give out a mylar balloon to each child. Is this just too much (lol) I'm newbie to preschool myself I'm not sure what's allowed and what isn't. I do know they will allow celebrations.

Re: Your child's birthday celebration in school
DS celebrated his birthday at daycare this past May. I brought in cupcakes, ordered pizza and had plates, napkins, cups and a plastic table cloth.
I also gave the teacher a disposable camera to take pictures.

Re: Your child's birthday celebration in school
Daycare has a new party policy this year. They will do the "party" for $40. Included paper goods, hats, cupcakes, and favors. No outside food allowed. A few kids have had them so far. I'm kinda bummed about it, but oh well.
Before you buy anything, I would check to see if they have party/outside food party.

Re: Your child's birthday celebration in school
I brought in ice cream cups, a balloon for his chair, and favors to send home. They also have a cake toy that sings happy birthday and lights the number of candles for his age. It was very cute
Check with the teacher and they'll be able to tell you their policy on it.

Re: Your child's birthday celebration in school
As a preschool teacher, PLEASE check w/ the teacher first. We have a no nuts policy at our school this year so munchkins would not be permitted; only certain baked goods & very limited candy (due to that allergy).
We also try to scale down the party...its generally the treat, a song & the child wears a crown all day.
We do not allow the parents in for birthdays.
For summer birthdays we generally celebrate them in May/June--I'll send home a letter.
Also ask the teacher about goody bag policy. I know where my daughter goes to preschool they do not allow them.
Generally speaking I don't think the balloons would be a good idea.

I would ask the teacher to do some sort of celebration for her right before school ends. I know my school will be doing that as well for the summer birthdays.
I like the idea of brining in little dixie cups too, along with the cupcakes. So they have a choice too...the cupcakes will be store bought anyway but I will ask the teacher for all the guidelines. Def. the party hats and plates and napkins. I'm pretty positive they will do this around their snack time so they will have their own drinks anyway.
I was thinking giving each child a little favor too but my mom says I'm going way overboard with that. She's right..cupckaes and ice cream dixie cups are plenty for a treat.

Re: Your child's birthday celebration in school
we just did cupcakes for DD this past week. (checked with the school first)
I also made goody bags which the kids loved.
DD got to wear a birthday crown all day, which made her totally happy.

IDK if this helps, but at my DD's school they celebrate the summer birthdays all at once.
so lets so kim and jim have birthdays in july and september. the last week of school, kim's b-day will be celebrated on one day and jim's the next.
I think it's nice all the birthdays get recognized.

Re: Your child's birthday celebration in school
In DS's grade-school, they can't have any "unhealthy" treats, so absolutely no cupcakes, candy, etc. We could bring in Cheez-its, those 100 calorie snack packs, etc.
Definitely check with the teacher before you bring anything in.
