Re: Your Christmas tree over the years...
my mom still puts up the ornaments we made in Girl Scouts. And all of our "baby's first Christmas" ornaments. She even hangs our baby booties. They do get a pretty big tree, though- and decorate all around it. I would definitely put up my "first married Christmas" ornaments in 20 years, I like to reminisce

Re: Your Christmas tree over the years...
For every "event" since 2001 (our first Christmas together) we have an ornament to represent - first Christmas in our new home (co-op and one for the house), first Christmas together, first married, one for DS's first, it's no more than 2 per year that are special like that...and I hope to put them up every year. Like Lisa said, I love taking them out and thinking back to the time and memory they represent.

Re: Your Christmas tree over the years...
I think this is so nice! I really think that I want to do the same. We have a lot of ornaments, and some are filler/non special ones that we got just to fill the tree. But now that we have a lot more special ones, maybe we should clean out the generic ones that don't mean much to us to make room for the more special ones. What do you think? Do you ever "clean out" your filler ornaments to make room for more?

Re: Your Christmas tree over the years...
Out with the old!
I'm not sentimental at all. I get tired of things very easily & retire ornaments all the time.
We don't have any first Christmas ornaments anyway.
Unfortuntately DH has a collection of over 20 annual Hallmark ornaments that take up most of our tree, along with a few other things from childohood.
I didn't have many of my own ornaments as a child, and I'm not even sure if my mother still has those. If she does, she doesn't put them on the tree. She's not too sentimental either.
