Your house and furniture color question....
In our new house we have sort of an open floor plan where the first room you see on your right is the DR, and on the left is a formal living room. Our furniture in the LR is chocolate brown leather, and we currently have no dining room furniture picked out, we both fell in love with a black set but were not sure how that would flow with the rest of the house. Our kitchen is sort of rustic, brownish with cream granite, darker cabinets. So, I guess what I am asking is, do you think it will look "funny" I guess I never really thought about it until a friend asked me this.
The black furniture is distressed.

Re: Your house and furniture color question....
As long as everything is a similar style, I think it would be fine (EX. modern LR and traditional DR would look funny!)

Re: Your house and furniture color question....
We have an open floor plan too, and we use different woods to kind of designate different sections/feels.
Our kitchen is light oak, so is our kitchen table. But our living room is chocolate brown like yours.
All our doors & moulding are white. We were thinking of putting a white bench in a seperate area in front of our coat closet. I have a white/oak curio cabinet on the wall there too.
Originally we thought it would look strange but we've learned that sometimes matchy-matchy is boring.
