Your skin and your diet ?

Has anyone noticed a direct correlation between what they eat and how their skin acts?

Absolutely. Less sugar + more water = better skin for me. I also notice a difference when I eat less salt.

Re: Your skin and your diet ?

My skin is generally clear, but I do notice that it is more vibrant when I dont drink coffee daily.

I only drink water, tea (one cup of regular and the rest of the day, decaf or no caf) and on occasion, I'll have a spurt of a couple of weeks where I will have coffee every day. I don't add sugar to my coffee, just a bit of soy milk. But overall I guess it dehydrates me because though I still drink loads of water, my skin isn't as great looking.

Salt also makes my skin feel puffy. If I have too much of it, even with the amount of water I drink (most days I drink about 80-90 ounces), I feel like a pufferfish.

The best my skin ever looked was after spending 2 days in the hospital.

I assume it was because I was fasting, not wearing makeup & being pumped full of fluids. Chat Icon

I do notice my eyes are puffier when I have too much sugar.

Definitely. Eating healthier, cutting down sugar and salt, drinking more water (no soda ever) and using minimal makeup and simple skincare does wonders for my skin. Always has. I was blessed with good skin (minus a bad acne phase in college) but I've always taken really good care of it and I really believe less is more.

Honestly, if you do just one thing for your skin, it should be drinking water. Drink tons and tons and tons of water and your skin will be soft and glowing Chat Icon

Yes, water! I'm not a huge water drinker, but started about a month ago or a little longer. Others have noticed my skin looking better.
