Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
my children were 7 years apart and different sexes. I had a small shower for my 2nd child. It was very nice and much needed, i forgot how much stuff you actually need. I didnt have anything left from my dd.

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
I have a 6 yr old and we are TTC, I know my family (and DH's) are planning on throwing me a shower when the time comes. I donated everything when DD was 3 or 4, all we have is a crib. I think it is fine, esp. with all the time in between and since everyone is willing and asking! Enjoy yourself!

I have been to second child showers- more like a get together at the grandma's house. I think a lower key GTG is more appropriate. Not like- rentinga hall and playing games and baby bottle confetti and balloons.
I agree with this. This is what we are doing for me for my second and I think this is appropriate. To me a full blown out shower for the 2nd isn't necessary unless you're talking about like a 10-15 year difference. 7 years is a lot but I don't think it's that much. But I think a small gathering at someone's house is fine.

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
My girls are 7 years apart and i was definitley having a shower.
I planned it myself even. i only invited close family and friends. We had about 40 people. i did;t invite everyone under the sun. It was very nice and I am so glad I did it. I was pg with my Dh's first so his family was going to throw me one anyway.
Since May BRU has come out with different things. And that's only 7 months ago. Imagine 7 years.
SHOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you need it and deserve it. your DD will love it!!!! She'll be the center of attention right along with you!

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
In your case (7 yr difference in age), I would consider having a small informal get together.
I didn't have one for #2. If I did I would have had a bridal shower, wedding, and 2 baby showers in 3 yrs.

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
I wouldn't do a full-out shower but a small get together with your closest family and friends would be totally appropriate.

You should have one, it doesn't matter even if your kids were close. Each baby is a blessing and should be celebrated. There aren't any rules to this.....
I agree, I never got the whole shower for the 1st baby only thing

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
Due to the amount of time in between your LO's, I think it's totally cool if you have a shower for your baby....
So much changes month to month - the amount of changes that have happened in the past 7 years could prob write a book!!!!!!!!!

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
I think if you word the invitation as something like a "celebration" of the anticipating arrival and don't create a registry its wonderful!

Re: Your thoughts on a shower for #2
I'm not sure if I answered correctly....I said no...meaning..NO its not too much to ask for a shower....
I think you should def. have one!!!! I have been to MANY showers for 1st, 2nds, and even 3rds!!!!!!!!!! And never thought they were asking for too much...most of them even registered...some for big things because their babies were too many years apart or it was a different s3x and some just for small things because they were able to use the big things from the last baby.

I once heard that a shower for #2 is ok if it has been more than 5 years since the last baby.
That seems okay, unlike my ex-SIL who had one for everyone she had (and the two boys were less than two years apart ).

I think given the amount of time that has passed, it is 100% acceptable to have a second shower. Like someone else said, many things from your first child are probably no longer deemed to be safe, such as the car seat.
I agree!
